F&F: Dalis concept

Concept art for Feathers and Flowers for Dalis, the lil brother to Evangeline! I appreciate you all for voting and helping me choose his color palette, so this is the overall design that won that vote! :)

At first glance Dalis may seem a lot like his sister; calm, quiet, reserved, shy. That, however, is not true. The moment you catch his attention, he's off like a light. Dalis is loud, energetic, and outgoing. He's quite chatty and will talk your ear off if you let him, and has the curiosity of a little kitten observing the big big world around him. And he wants to know it all.

He hates that he has to hide himself, hates that he has to hide his magic and keep an important part of himself a secret. He understands why, to some extent (he still grapples with the guilt of being the reason his family had to flee), but it'll never stop him from questioning the fairness of it.

FUNFACTS:

-Dalis' magic is fire. He has the ability to produce gentle flames that don't burn to the touch, or scorching heats; this ability is a little fluctuating due to his youth, but he's actually pretty decent at his mana control. In fact, he's better at it than Evangeline is, largely because he's more willing to practice it while Eva rarely does out of fear of being found out.

-Dalis is often mistaken as a girl. That actually doesn't offend him much, but it does get tiresome after a while. What does offend him is the idea that only girls can have very long hair; culturally, it's more common for men to have short hair where he's from, and a lot of his elder family members would pester his parents to get it cut short.

As an additional funfact, this tidbit is based on MY brother; he's always had long hair and would often be called a girl until he or us would correct them. A lot of family, particularly my dad's side, would pester my parents into getting his hair cut completely off because him having long hair "was too girly".

They never cut it because he loved his hair long. Ironically he was a catalyst to a lot of my male family members wanting long hair when they got older. xD

-Dalis is a monster enthusiast, much like a kid would be dinosaur-crazy. He thinks monsters super cool and if he could he'd love one as a pet! Eva refuses though :(

-His human disguise is that of an elf! In fact, it's common for Spiritov to use elves as their base disguise since they share more similarities than Tallfoots or Dwarves, as such it doesn't take as much energy to repress their appearances. It's essentially a lesser form of shapeshifting, so the shape that'll allow them to maintain the appearance without strain is the most effective.

Both Elves and Spiritov children usually have floppy ears before the cartilage hardens enough to stand erect. Dalis' ears are actually a little larger than typical; it's a source of teasing among his peers.
