Grand Meals - Holiday Edition

I want to make a few grand meals (requires Seasons) with next month's SCCO update.

I have a few ideas todo my favorite Thanksgiving/Holiday main dishes and sides. I'm forever a southern girl, so these will be recipes common in the southern United States.

Aside from my favorites, I wanted to make some of yours! If you have a favorite holiday dish let me know in the comments below. This can be a side dish, main course, appetizer, or even dessert. What foods make you remember the holidays?

Jessica Wright

I've lived in the South most of my adult life, and the only holiday sides I like are Southern: Green bean casserole and squash casserole. Carrot soufflée is also really yummy.

Athena Apollos

I <3 savory pot pies!!!

Athena Apollos

We're from the UK and each Christmas we use the leftover turkey in a pie. The filling is leek, pancetta and turkey with a creamy white gravy and it has a puff pastry topping that has fresh sage leaves rolled into it. It's SO GOOD! Would love to see some big pies added to the game :)

Fried Turkey!!

Linda Gill

Chitterlings is something we love for Thanksgiving 😂🤙I know most people don't like them

Riri Pittman

sweet potato & potato gratin is what I make every Thanksgiving from Williams-Sonoma's entertaining cookbook. It doesn't replace mashed taters, but it is now a fave.

stuffing with cornbread is the best. no white bread in this house.

Stuffing made with cornbread was always a favorite. I even love the cranberry sauce that comes in the can :-)

Lilmiznormal

Dutch pea soup (main) and Dutch poached pears (dessert), they are more like winter dishes then holiday dishes

I was coming here to add these suggestions, haha! I would love, love to see some Aussie options on the menu. Seafood platter, pavlova, cold cuts and salads, trifles, ice cream cakes. For when you want to eat but it is way too hot to cook!

What a great idea. I grew up in an Italian household and the tradition for Christmas Eve was Festa dei sette pesci, translated to English as the Feast of the Seven Fishes. (Gram had a different name for it). Growing up in a restaurant, her dish was a large bowl of Linguine (thick spaghetti) with a clear sauce (olive oil, garlic, etc.) and seven types of fish - Mussells, Crab, Lobster, scrod, scallops, Scungilli, and squid.

Wendy Hubble

Y’all have great suggestions. I cant wait to see these recipes.

Roast or brisket! Sweet potato casserole. Lasagna. Pot of chili or gumbo. But like it has been said, anything you make is wonderful!

Jeanette Connally

This is such a fun idea! Green bean casserole will always = holidays for me. Also that gelatinous canned cranberry sauce too if I'm being honest, lol. I love the thought of having Sims react positively and negatively to it, hahaha. Anything you add will be fantastic though!!

anselpants

Sweet potato pie, pumpkin pie, cherry pie, apple pie, baked mac n cheese, green bean casserole, honey baked ham, deep fried turkey, mashed potatoes and gravy, greens, cranberry sauce, kings Hawaiian dinner rolls, candied yams, sweet potato casserole, spiced apple cake, etc…

KARLA RITCHIE

Oooh, lasagne. and cheesecake. I love those and they're what I make during the holidays.

Tiffany Taylor

I'm having visions of my Sims burning down their house trying to deep fry a turkey!

I would love more vegetarian Grand Meal options. My usual alternative to turkey is a squash and rice casserole, but really, any vegetarian-safe meal already in the game would work. A vegetarian lasagna would make a good alternative for the non-turkey-eaters.

In Australia our Christmas menu is often seafood platters (prawns - shrimp in America, Crayfish - Lobster in America, Oysters, Smoked Salmon, Potato Salad, and for dessert often we have Pavlova topped with Strawberries, Mango, Banana, Passionfruit, Kiwi fruit and whipped cream.

Ree Barkla

My aunt makes a broccoli, cheese, and rice casserole that is amazing!

Temesha Hostetler

Green bean casserole 😋

Monica

I’m a southern girl at heart too so you may already be planning these dishes: sweet potato casserole, stuffing, mashed potatoes with gravy, green bean casserole, homemade Parker House rolls, honey glazed ham and a deep fried turkey. Although I’m not sure how a Sim would deep fry a turkey. Now I’ve made myself hungry 🤣
