Grand Meals - Holiday Edition
Added 2021-11-11 12:20:02 +0000 UTCI want to make a few grand meals (requires Seasons) with next month's SCCO update.
I have a few ideas todo my favorite Thanksgiving/Holiday main dishes and sides. I'm forever a southern girl, so these will be recipes common in the southern United States.
Aside from my favorites, I wanted to make some of yours! If you have a favorite holiday dish let me know in the comments below. This can be a side dish, main course, appetizer, or even dessert. What foods make you remember the holidays?

2021-11-14 22:15:41 +0000 UTCI've lived in the South most of my adult life, and the only holiday sides I like are Southern: Green bean casserole and squash casserole. Carrot soufflée is also really yummy.

2021-11-14 20:56:17 +0000 UTCWe're from the UK and each Christmas we use the leftover turkey in a pie. The filling is leek, pancetta and turkey with a creamy white gravy and it has a puff pastry topping that has fresh sage leaves rolled into it. It's SO GOOD! Would love to see some big pies added to the game :)
2021-11-13 08:48:08 +0000 UTCFried Turkey!!

2021-11-12 20:27:56 +0000 UTCsweet potato & potato gratin is what I make every Thanksgiving from Williams-Sonoma's entertaining cookbook. It doesn't replace mashed taters, but it is now a fave.
2021-11-12 16:36:25 +0000 UTCstuffing with cornbread is the best. no white bread in this house.
2021-11-12 16:34:51 +0000 UTCStuffing made with cornbread was always a favorite. I even love the cranberry sauce that comes in the can :-)

2021-11-11 17:44:02 +0000 UTCWhat a great idea. I grew up in an Italian household and the tradition for Christmas Eve was Festa dei sette pesci, translated to English as the Feast of the Seven Fishes. (Gram had a different name for it). Growing up in a restaurant, her dish was a large bowl of Linguine (thick spaghetti) with a clear sauce (olive oil, garlic, etc.) and seven types of fish - Mussells, Crab, Lobster, scrod, scallops, Scungilli, and squid.

2021-11-11 14:39:38 +0000 UTCThis is such a fun idea! Green bean casserole will always = holidays for me. Also that gelatinous canned cranberry sauce too if I'm being honest, lol. I love the thought of having Sims react positively and negatively to it, hahaha. Anything you add will be fantastic though!!

2021-11-11 13:02:25 +0000 UTCI'm having visions of my Sims burning down their house trying to deep fry a turkey!
2021-11-11 12:56:45 +0000 UTCI would love more vegetarian Grand Meal options. My usual alternative to turkey is a squash and rice casserole, but really, any vegetarian-safe meal already in the game would work. A vegetarian lasagna would make a good alternative for the non-turkey-eaters.
2021-11-11 12:54:53 +0000 UTCIn Australia our Christmas menu is often seafood platters (prawns - shrimp in America, Crayfish - Lobster in America, Oysters, Smoked Salmon, Potato Salad, and for dessert often we have Pavlova topped with Strawberries, Mango, Banana, Passionfruit, Kiwi fruit and whipped cream.

2021-11-11 12:34:12 +0000 UTCI’m a southern girl at heart too so you may already be planning these dishes: sweet potato casserole, stuffing, mashed potatoes with gravy, green bean casserole, homemade Parker House rolls, honey glazed ham and a deep fried turkey. Although I’m not sure how a Sim would deep fry a turkey. Now I’ve made myself hungry 🤣
