Private Practice - 0.6
Added 2018-07-06 02:37:17 +0000 UTCHello everyone!
Just did a quick test of Private Practice 0.6 and we are good to go for our Alpha phase of this version. You will notice that the Nursing career isn't present. The Resident career took up a lot more time than expected and we had to push this back to the next update. However, I believe you will like what roBurky has done with this update.
Here is the Developer's Change Log for this version:
- A new career for a more realistic representation of doctors and veterinarians in training! Sims start as an unpaid Health Sciences Student and can progress to be a Medical Resident or Veterinary Resident, preparing them to be a qualified doctor or owner of a vet clinic.

- The Health Sciences Student career track has four levels. It comes with a daily task to 'Browse Simpedia,' and a promotion requirement at each level to attend and pass an exam. Taking exams costs money, representing the program's tuition costs! Exam performance is affected by work performance, logic skill, charisma skill, veterinary skill, and mood.
- If you don't have the Cats & Dogs expansion, health science exams are still passable without needing veterinary skills.

- The Medical Resident career track is a branch available after completing the Health Sciences Student track. It has four levels and involves very long workdays.
- The Medical Resident career track comes with a daily task to 'Read Online Medical Journals.' This can be done on the computer, under the 'web' category, and can result in some interesting long-lasting Moodlets.
- Promotion requirements involve logic and charisma skill.
- After reaching the end of the Medical Resident career track, if you have the Get To Work expansion pack installed, your sim will receive a phone call offering them the opportunity to jump straight to level 7 of the active Doctor career as a General Practitioner at the Hospital. If you turn down this phone call, your sim can still become a General Practitioner by choosing the active doctor career in the standard Find A Job menu. Any sim who has previously completed the Medical Resident career track will immediately start the doctor career at level 7!

- The Veterinary Resident career track is a branch available after completing the Health Sciences Student track. It has three levels, and its promotion requirements involve veterinary skill and charisma.
- If you choose this branch and do not have the Cats & Dogs expansion pack, you will not be able to progress in this career, and will not be able to change your choice without reloading a save!
- The Veterinary Resident career track does not yet have a daily task.
- There isn't any particular benefit in completing the Veterinary Resident career track, but aspiring veterinarians may find the career useful to build up funds and veterinary skill while they make plans to buy their own vet clinic.
- There will be more to come for this branch at a later update.
