General Poll: Would you like...
Added 2018-08-20 01:06:36 +0000 UTCHello Everyone!
Yes, everyone ;-) This poll is for everyone that would be willing to give their opinion on the matter. This doesn't necessarily relate to just SimRealist but mods in general.
Would you be interested in a program/tool that allows you to auto-download or queue mod updates from various creators into one download? That would mean that you wouldn't have to go to multiple websites to get updated mods, it would actually be in one central location and then it would either queue to download later with your input or just auto-download.
If you have further comments on the matter, just comment below. I should note though, that this doesn't actually mean that this program/tool would happen for sure if a lot of people were interested. I'm just seeing if there is interest in the subject before I pursue this matter.
Thanks so much in advance for your input!
Much Love,
Nichole

The mod program? No ETA on it since I would need to check with a lot of different parties to get this started and I would need to find a way to get this funded outside of a subscription to keep it free if that ends up being the popular vote.

2018-09-25 20:23:34 +0000 UTCwhen is it going to be out forever
2018-09-25 20:06:45 +0000 UTCI wish I could send out our content for free at every moment but Iโm not the one coding. We send the money to our team members to do what they do. Like right now our mods have to be funded by both patronage and my wallet in order for content to be delivered. We do not profit from what is given to us currently. If I can find a way to make all free I will.

2018-09-22 22:50:25 +0000 UTCI most definitely am interested this would love it to be free. I know and understand that modders and CC creators need to make money too, but some of us are just broke bitches XD and tbh I support when I can but I just can't always be shelling out my bucks for everyone's content. I miss the days when ppl just made things cuz they just loved too. Hell that's what I do! And I don't charge ;)
2018-09-22 21:41:34 +0000 UTCYes, standards would help me out greatly! And you guys too really I think, because it would do a lot of things really. Actually if you want to look at my page cause I am Thinking about starting this and have the whole reason for asking this up there. And if you want to PM me feel free maybe we can collaborate. :)

2018-08-21 03:35:35 +0000 UTCI donโt believe so as far as I can tell. It is pretty much whatever the creator would like to do. As a user, is this something that would help you? And if yes, how so? I have my ideas of how but want to get your impressions. Thanks for your comments!

2018-08-21 02:45:07 +0000 UTCThose are really good questions. Questions I've posed to myself actually as a baseline for how I would like to approach this project. I don't want to work against other modding websites but with them. This will ultimately, or I will try to, be a resource rather than just a website. There are a couple ways in which I could set this program up, but ultimately I do not plan on having pages upon pages of mods like a website such as MTS. It would be more of a secondary location for a creator to store their mod for ease of use for an existing user, not for a potential user of a mod. In other words, the creator of the mod would still have their original mod page/website that has all the information/updates and also this program that just has updates-changelog that a user could subscribe to. I would like to work with creators to make that a reality, if not find another solution that requires less work on their part. Ultimately, Creators will have a say on whether this project will even move forward. I'm just seeing if their is interest on the user side so that I can bring it forth for consideration on the Creator side. In regards to the Patreon vs non-Patreon version, this issue also has multiple ways in which I could tackle this but the initial version most likely will just have the free versions available only. That is unless I can find a way in which to link Patreon in, making the user sign into their account. But I haven't fully fleshed this out yet so I can't make any promises or guarantees. However, I do plan on making this a priority item as well since Patreon versions get the most updates in comparison to the free ones and it would benefit the user greatly to have the process of updating all their mods in one location. Thanks so much for your questions and comments! Keep them coming because if this project goes forward, it will help me cover all my bases before launch. -Nichole

2018-08-21 01:58:06 +0000 UTCIt sounds like a good idea, but I imagine certain modding websites might be against it because it would cut into their monthly site visits. Also, quite a few of the bigger mods have Patreon and non-Patreon versions. And some creators release updates for their mods for patrons first before releasing them out to the public. Would you be able to account for that?
2018-08-20 23:49:10 +0000 UTCI might be wrong on this but I think TURBODRIVER is looking into making something like this. But great suggestion!

2018-08-20 14:17:52 +0000 UTCGood idea, but a mod or program which is really needed by everyone would be one which specify or exactly name the mods which causes LEs

2018-08-20 14:14:15 +0000 UTCAre you talking about the creator controlled mod updates or the download process which is ultimately user controlled? The user would have to make sure it is put in the mod folder to keep from having old mod files in place. However, I may try to find a way to simplify that process as well later. This is mostly to reduce the amount of places to look for updates and to make sure users always have the updated mods of the creators they follow and not use expired ones or versions not compatible with the game.

2018-08-20 12:15:39 +0000 UTCI just don't trust the accuracy of such a program and feel that it might cause more harm than good.

2018-08-20 07:48:14 +0000 UTCGREAT idea. I am so poor but I would STILL PAY for the ease of this. ๐๐ป

2018-08-20 02:46:18 +0000 UTCOK, I will add that to my notes. Thanks for your comments!

2018-08-20 01:26:21 +0000 UTCYes, then I would not mind paying a few for an all in one tool!

2018-08-20 01:25:16 +0000 UTCIf it is possible to include those notes and the ability to comment on the update within the program, would it be a viable option for you?
SimRealist
2018-08-20 01:23:41 +0000 UTCNot a horrible idea, but I wouldn't be interested in something like that. I would rather go straight to the creator where I can read update notes and general.chatter from the community about the update. It is a good idea, just not for someone like me.
