A realization about rewards and gumroad
Added 2016-11-12 18:11:11 +0000 UTCHey guys! How's it going? I was thinking about Patreon, rewards and gumroad the other day, seeing as the latest Patreon milestone backtracks every month, and then I realized a big mistake about the thing. Basically, now on Patreon you can use PayPal for nsfw, and since all rewards are available after a single pledge, anyone can get all the packs for just $1, and then cancel their pledge right after. Not only that, but also means you can just pledge $1 every few months and get everything released in the meantime easily. So, I was thinking some way to manage this a little better in a way that doesn't affect real pledging patrons, and I think a good way will be sending the rewards via download link on private messages from now on. I'll still post a preview image and a list of contents (I like how it looks), but that way, pledge-and-run will be discouraged. My question is, how could I manage the older rewards? Those are still on Patreon and are all accessible to everyone who pledges $1 just once and cancels. I was thinking maybe something related to the individual lifetime pledge amount or something like that. So, what do you guys think about this? Any suggestions are welcome!

2016-11-16 02:11:28 +0000 UTCGood insight! Thanks for that. I have considered that the full drawings will inevitably end up on imageboards, and that's something impossible to avoid. It's ok as being a form of publicity, and I still get the support for people who really appreciate the work like yourself :D For that, I'm really thankful!

2016-11-16 01:57:18 +0000 UTCBy the way, I discovered you on Danbooru. The image was, if I recall, mechashroom Peach. I was like, "Who is this guy?" Having your work posted on imageboards really is a double-edged sword, I guess, although I still think it's more bad than good for the most part.

2016-11-15 00:02:21 +0000 UTChaha thanks a lot for the uplifting words :) I'm happy to see I have cool supporters like you and the rest of the people on these comments! :D I will certainly devise a way to link people's lifetime support to the reward packs instead of having them all just up for grabs, but changing to monthly would probably require a little more work, and probably a different way to deliver instead of zipped files. Making things monthly could be good also in that I could deliver the drawings to supporters as soon as I finish them, instead of waiting to "fill up" a pack. That should be pretty neat!

2016-11-13 23:23:12 +0000 UTCThis is also a good idea indeed.

2016-11-12 21:54:18 +0000 UTCIndeed for that you might have to set it to a monthly fee rather than a fee-per package - that way you can also benefit from the "pay in advance" function. Basic Access for the most recent content for 5 Dollars, NSWF content for 10+ Dollars per month, Full/Extra Content (Futa, Preg and some other special stuff included) 15 Dollars per month.... this is just an example.... It can also be 10, 15 and 20 Dollars per month.... I would certainly pay 20 Dollars ... or actually even more if necessary, cause I really love your Art.:)
GotMilk
2016-11-12 21:49:47 +0000 UTCSo they might get the most recent content (like the content of July in July or the content of December in December and so on) for 1-5 dollars, however if they want to get the previous content as well they have to donate more.... So they wouldn't even be able to see the pictures from the previous content (just a blurred picture) - many other Artists whom I support regularly do this.

2016-11-12 21:46:35 +0000 UTCYou can put the content from the previous months behind a 10 or 15 dollar "locked-content-barrier" - so only if somebody donates 10-15 dollars will they have access to the content from the previous months. If you set it to "pay in advance" then they have to pay at least that 10-15 dollars once.

2016-11-12 21:44:39 +0000 UTCThat's available only for monthly campaigns unfortunately, and this one is per "creation" ( packs ). I've considered changing to monthly because of this, but I'm not so sure.

2016-11-12 20:16:08 +0000 UTCCan't you set it so that money gets immediately paid, when someone pledges now?

2016-11-12 20:12:41 +0000 UTCLike I said, with actual system you have to wait until there is pledge to see content but they can put an option where you directly pay for the upcoming month and then get access to reward. You don't loss anything that way since you already get access to all content from the upcoming and previous months
RosalinaxGirl
2016-11-12 18:55:55 +0000 UTCYeah, but maybe there should be some kind of welcome reward for patrons out something like that? To ease the waiting time I mean

2016-11-12 18:53:07 +0000 UTCThere isn't solution that totally suit what we need, I sent a message to patron to put an option and make patreon content available ONLY to patreon who successfully pledged then no thief. So when people join they have to wait the start off the month to complete their pledge and get access to the content or pledge earlier and unlock the content already available but at last you are sure to get some money. Must have more people asking if we want patreon change their mind T_T

2016-11-12 18:46:40 +0000 UTCThanks! Knowing other artists do things like that is really reassuring!

2016-11-12 18:45:37 +0000 UTCIt's a huge problem with patreon since they never really care about feedback and for now someone can come, get all your packs and then leave without spend a single cent. The idea of the private message is the mroe safe but need much more time and patrons will never be able get access to previous content, must be so bad since you produced so many awesome packs.

2016-11-12 18:43:55 +0000 UTCA lot of artist do timed rewards, it's basically a loyalty system. Like after six months you get access to an exclusive set, a commission of some sort, or something similar. Your art is amazing, I will continue to support you.

2016-11-12 18:33:15 +0000 UTCI see a lot of artist send their art via mail so it is continous pledge exclusive, I believe you would be able to get in a little extra cash flow this way
