Possible alternatives to Patreon in case they get worse with their crackdown on porn stuff

Seems like Patreon is getting more and more weird with their rules against anime style art and furry/non human porn, and since I hate puritans but love drawing hentai, here's a preemptive poll to decide alternatives if I need to migrate! I already have explored some of the options from some time ago, but need to see which would have the best combination of features/userbase.

Please give it a look and let me know what you think!

Possible alternatives to Patreon in case they get worse with their crackdown on porn stuff

I fund an aritst on Subscribestar. He has "extreme art" and they haven't dinged him yet. However, he is new to that platform. Fanbox with a more Japanese base seems less likely to ban "extreme" stuff.

I haven't seen yet artists working with an OnlyFans, if you know of any please let me know to analyze the possibilities!

I didn't know Gumroad had a monthly subscription either. As for the ban, I've heard rumors about it on other (Discord) servers, and how creators have been banned by staff without being able to get their money back. However, I might be confusing that with Patreon. I don't think Gumroad's crackdown is nearly as severe, however.

Seems like the gumroad subscription might be worth the try! so far I haven't had any trouble with them regarding NSFW

Soupsup

Seriously had no idea Gumroad had a subscription function some of the TOS stuff made me a little.... well had me want to thoroughly read it end to end but have not lol On fanbox.cc the censoring is annoying but they don't care if you link to another site with uncensored works it seems, I voted fanbox but I'm very curious about gumroad, having content sit in my library WOULD be nice.

Pierre Johnson

it's just another membership platform, pretty similar to the rest but the userbase is mostly japanese

Soupsup

I'm afraid many people don't realize Gumroad does have a monthly sub system! this is what I'd aim for. Also, didn't know gumroad was going into crackdown mode. Could you provide me more info for that? :O

Soupsup

Could you explain what fanbox is? It's the only one I'm not familiar with

WiseDante1

I've heard that Subscribestar is similar to Patreon, but I haven't heard of the others. Unfortunately, I think Gumroad might be going the Patreon route, but I don't think their crackdown is anything like Patreon's, if it is happening. I voted for Gumroad since I've been trying to cut down on my monthly subscriptions, and unless the creator has a monthly delivery system, it's not worth me paying for art that gets released randomly. While Gumroad is more ideal for me, it's more of a point transaction and less of a steady flow of income for the creator.

If that’d work/be allowed lol

Any potential for say Onlyfans maybe?

Jay Reyes

I’d say Gumroad would be best imo because it’s one that I’m familiar with. I’d like to advise pixiv/fan box but my card company doesn’t like working with them...

Jay Reyes

maybe could use a donation bot as a parallel thing, since I post the content there anyway it wouldn't have to be an extra step I think

Soupsup

they do have a subscription system! it's just not as advertised

Soupsup

I am most familiar with Gumroad and Fanbox. Gumroad is my preference between the two, but I don't know if they even have a monthly support option like how Patreon works so that's probably less ideal a replacement.

Shawn Heatherly

So I voted for Gumroad because it’s the only one I’ve heard of. Obviously I know Discord but am unfamiliar with the ‘Donation Bot’... if it’s not baked in to Discord I’d be suspect in it breaking or needing maintenance.
