Behind the Scenes: Baby's first prints!

Here is a glimpse at my very first "finished" prints! I have tried out a couple of different papers so far - both the Staples Ultra Premium Photo Paper (8.5"x11", matte, 230gsm) and the Canon Photo Paper Plus (5"x7", semi-gloss, 260gsm) and both are nice papers!

The largest size I intend on making prints of, for the time being, are probably around 6"x9", so the Canon paper is convenient being a 5x7 since I don't have to trim it down. That being said... I 100% prefer the Staples paper solely for being matte! I recently learned it's a lot harder to find any kind of smaller size (4x6 - 5x7) paper with a matte finish versus gloss or semi-gloss. I personally much prefer the look of matte prints over glossy, so trimming down paper it is!

From the feedback I received on Instagram, stickers have a much higher demand compared to prints, but I've only recently delved into the world of printing-at-home, and it has been such a fun experience to see my traditional art reprinted!! I'm sure I'll test out a few more kinds of paper in the coming months, and of course I will be trying to add lots of different artwork to my roster of prints as well.

I have, of course, made a lot of misprints in this process (mainly prints that are sized slightly off from the ideal size - I don't have much experience printing anything, so formatting took a second to get used to, haha).

I would love to make updates as I progress in working on items for opening a shop - please let me know if you guys are interested in these kinds of posts at all! I know I need to work more on making stickers, and I was also wanting to try and make some handmade charms, and I'd love to share my experiences on here if there is interest! <3

oh my god the cricut site didn't have the rose in stock when I checked several days ago 😭 in my hyperfixation I checked their site yesterday evening and saw it was back in stock and ordered one in rose!! the rose is very pale but I just wanted a pink one so I'm not upset at all!!! I thought about waiting until black Friday to see if I could get a cheaper one but I'm okay with spending the extra!

i figured youd want the coral, i have the mint ofc hehe!! good luck with finding one, i bought mine online but i dont remember where from lol. it was on black friday tho, i see the prices are more like 230 or something but i did get mine for 200. hmm yea i just tried to search for coral and only found it at michaels but out of stock online.. the cricut site has the rose color online but if you are set on coral its not really the same color, its quite lighter. :/ hobby lobby has blush, but its darker than coral. really wish you the best of luck in finding the perfect cutter <3

I actually did my first "big print" of stickers and made about 30... my right pointer has been numb for 3 days from cutting them out and I already have wrist/thumb damage from cake decorating for ~3 years so I've actually been seriously looking into getting an explore air 2 for the past several days! I don't intend on making any more sticker batches until I have one šŸ˜– I really want the Coral one, but the closest Michaels location that has it is a 3 hour drive, and its unavailable everywhere online 😭 printing stickers at home increases the profit margin an insane amount versus ordering them from a manufacturer, so I want to try and print them at home for as long as it's reasonable for me to do so!

thanks for sharing so much of this process, including the specific papers and everything!! its interesting to know both because i love your content and because i would like to do prints and such in the future lol oh also - i bought a cricut explore air 2 with the intention of making stickers but have yet to use it because my dumb head forgot that i dont have a good printer or anything anyways LOL so that was .. very silly , it was like $200 OTL but i just tell myself that one day ill use it haha. that is sort of expensive but i think definitely worth it in the long run because you will absolutely make over $200 on stickers. however, i know kaatydidart first created sticker sheets for her store from a site/company that prints and cuts stickers or other things for you. but eventually she bought her own cutter to do it from home which definitely cuts down the cost but not the effort ofc lol . idk if you would be interested in that kind of thing but thought id let you know. i forgot what website she used but if you wanna know i can ask her!!

ahh thank you!! I will absolutely do a similar thing for the stickers I have been making - I'll also make updates on other projects as well then! :) thank you so much for the feedback!
