HI PATRONS!! 💕 sorry for the delay with this month's print -- I was sick the last week of June and then this month has absolutely FLOWN by and I'm finding myself more and more behind... BUT here's a WIP on this month's print artwork!! I was initially planning on doing a drawing of Arietty's room from The Secret World of Arietty (I love this movie sm and if you haven't seen it PLEASE do, its so so beautiful) and whilst I was sketching it out I realized I kinda wanted to change certain aspects and then just decided to do a borrower's room of things /I/ would want to have!!
it was very fun to play with composition and scaling on this piece since borrower's are just... itty bitty tiny people. Arietty's room has some art supplies in it so that got my brain going and wanting to do a little artsy corner!! I was honestly tempted to do a bigger view of the bedroom but I didn't want it to translate poorly/be TOO much tiny detail since it's going to be on a 5x7 print -- I still have a decent amount of work to do to finish this piece and there's a lot of detail I wanna add to make it look cluttered and full,, I'm so excited to finish this piece :')
in the meantime, I have so many Cornbread pics to share with y'all!!
her birthday was last month and baby girl officially turned one year old!! :') <3 I just switched her over to loose substrate (as opposed to paper towels) since she's been not eating like... anything recently,, I've tried a couple different things (a variety of insects and an appetite stimulant) but none of those have worked so I'm hoping that her food strike is related to ovulation season (this is my first reptile and this is all new to me)
I looked into a lay box but I saw a lot of mixed reviews on them with the general consensus being that full loose substrate is the best option (both for laying eggs if that's what she's doing, and for having the best stimulation from digging) so that's what I went with!!
I'm still kinda debating on whether or not I want to switch her over to a bioactive enclosure (very cool concept and mimics their natural habitat best) but I don't have the drive to handle getting isopods or springtails to make that work currently so 70/30 top soil to sand was what I went with for now!!
Cornbread is just a girl and absolutely hates change so currently she is in misery as she has been a paper towel girlie for most of her life (if not all) and now she has SQUISH when she steps, but once she gets used to it I know she will have a blast with digging!!
