A Tip For Aspiring Artists
Added 2021-04-17 13:53:42 +0000 UTCThis might be common knowledge, who knows, but I learned to draw in the mean streets of “bored in class” so I learned it relatively recently, and still forget it, from time to time:
Reverse/flip your images! Your brain rapidly learns to accept and ignore imperfections if it’s been staring at them a while, so flipping the image makes them rapidly apparent. Plus, I think there’s some cerebral dominance effects at play, too, but who knows— it’s not like I’m a brain doctor.
Anyway, horizontal flip your image early and often, and make sure it’s still pleasing to your eye (exact symmetry is over-rated). Don’t be like me, and almost finish an 87 frame animation before you try it!
