If you want a TLDR, here it is: for future rounds of commission, I will be raising prices significantly. THIS DOES NOT APPLY TO COMMISSIONS THAT I HAVE ALREADY ACCEPTED DEPOSITS FOR, BUT HAVEN’T YET DONE. For an explanation of roughly how much FUTURE rounds of commissions will cost, and why, read on.
Blame @RoninDudeArt. Actually, he seems a nice guy and he’s quite a good artist, but he recently posted that he was opening commissions, starting at $1000 (!) each for pinups. And he had more than enough takers. Now, as I said, I like his art a lot, but I don’t think he’s THAT much better than me. So I started looking around at other artists’ prices, and thinking about how much time I spend on my art, and how many other things in life I wanna spend time on, and I realized that my prices have not kept pace with my improvement in skill level and quality of my work, nor with the scarcity of my time.
Certainly, there are good artists who charge less. Certainly, there will be some of you who decide that I’m charging too much. Honestly, that’s cool— I fully expect to do fewer commissions going forward. I honestly appreciate that you’re even here, paying to appreciate my art. But I do have to put a higher premium on my time, and I want to give any of you who are here primarily for commission access enough notice to cancel your Patreon support if you wish.
Look for a new round of commission slots to open in December, starting at $300.
