I've been waiting for this writing and, as expected, I'm left with many thoughts about R Verner. They care so much about the MCs comfort. Not picking a private booth for its implication, even if they had preferred the full privacy, and giving them a myriad of easy outs if they wish to take them. Obsessed with how much they were overthinking one (1) outing for drinks. ๐ฅฐ The kiss that didn't happen making them take things slower (despite their impatient nature) and wanting to understand Miri's hesitance. R wants to make sure all of this is something the MC wants too. I have to respect R's skill in how they managed to get Miri to excitedly talk about something. Normally, she stops herself before she gets to this point. Reserved and unfazed features softening while talking about something she enjoys (or by being around certain company) is so Miri-coded. R being so bothered about the interruption all while Miri couldn't care less about this random person. (Miri out here ๐๐๐ฎโ๐จ๐ while R is this close ๐ to consider more extreme measures.) The strongest reaction she had about it was watching R downing that shot while holding eye contact (hot). Miri would let out a surprisingly fond laugh after that and seeing R make a face while trying to cover it up afterward. Please, it's so amusing having Miri struggle with her feelings while R is in 24/7 yearn mode because of her. She could help both of them by just admitting to her crush. R Verner making me sick again with how desperately they just wanted someone to see *them*, not the Verner heir, and the MC being the only person that ever did. They don't only see R as their past rival either, which was always an excuse to spend time while being friends was too hard. Oh, the compliment part, Miri fearingโwhat it may do to her or worse, it only ends up being meaningless flattery to prove their point (while knowing that R isn't like this, but fear isn't always reasonable)โand hoping at the same time. ๐ซ "to be prudent about his drinking companions. He learned it..." hey hey hey, what happened here? I am ready to fight people on R's behalf. They don't only have to deal with the loneliness their position brings, but have to constantly stay alert over others trying to take advantage of them. ๐ This is such accurate writing for their dynamic. Naturally, R would notice her slight discomfort and Miri would try to soften the situation. C and R remain worsties and I would love to find out how this phone call went. I doubt this warning will be as nice as the first one C received regarding the MC. Going insane about R seeking out closeness with the MC in any way they can while still being respectful throughout the entire story. Always scarcely brushing past them, facing them at every opportunity and barely restraining themself from reaching out. (Miri, how can you not kiss them? ๐คจ) It all ending with R's genuine interest in hearing more about the MC is perfect. ๐ฅน They keep making Miri fall more and more by just being themself and showing their care. The stealing of the drink was great for me personally, after I thought the day before about Miri doing this to R. ๐

I love how Frosty and Smarty MCs this writing is ngl. It made me giggle and smile and just geek out to Alex after I was done reading it. I love R Verner with my whole heart. Reese is just such a fun character. The god damn Armani suit for your rival, huh, Reese? I see, I see. Especially at a bar? God, the aesthetic of a bar is so close to Zarina personally, especially with her biker aesthetic, so I just love to imagine the difference in their aesthetics in like Book 2 or smth when they go out to have a drink. Zarina's so used to people buying her free drinks so she just shrugged at the 'compliments from the gentleman' but how she was paying attention to Reese specifically here, to his behaviors and how pleased she was he took the 'blunt' of the fall themed drink. The laugh!! IT WAS SO CUTE!!! THE FACT IT SURPRISED THEM BOTH! gosh it was so memorable. REESE VERNER YOU'RE AN HONORARY SLAV NOW. STRAIGHT VODKA? MY DUDE. Also don't think I didn't notice those allusions to the past and drinking. Knowing there is someone like Lucian and how Char is the 'nicest' of the Bloodlines we'll meet? I can imagine some things that aren't really nice. I feel like the more we learn of Bloodlines, the more Zarian and Reese would bond over their experiences. The way they're used for title, power, or just to get close to them. Standing at the top yet having those on 2nd, 3rd, 4th places trying to kick you off so they can take that 1st place. It's such a toxic environment. But it warms me that Reese can chill out with Zarina and drink. She has a very high alcohol tolerance (whiskey and ice, remember, Mal? ITS NOT ABOUT U, BELOVED WAITER, but i needed to remind the Perfect Drink). Going out to have a nice, chill drink together is a good time well-spent in Zarina's eyes. Also that softness when discussing something interesting? I think what struck me the most is how Reese is obviously trying to learn about the CURRENT Zarina, not the past alone. It's learning anew, it's trying to get to know her without expectations, simply listening. The yearning of Mr Verner out here makes me clutch my heart and fall down. POSSESSIVE R, MY GOD, THE CHALLENGE AND THE WAY HE DRANK THE WHOLE SHOT IN ONE GO WITH THE EYE CONTACT. What a man. I'd kiss. I'd swoon. I'd fall off my chair actually. R Verner is peacocking for MC actually ,good for him. Zarina approves that possessiveness and peacocking. I also love how we get another flash to how protect R is. I did not forget the drabble from before when Reese was ready to beat up someone when they were making out in the car? Like the immediately fury and protection? Oh, love seeing that fiery side to R all over again in another manner. Absolutely delicious. I will not speak on Char for Alex has spoken already lol. But in all seriousness, it's interesting how R reacts to MC speaking to Char. It makes me think about how she keeps coming to Turn the Page for her special drink (I can feel A seething and wanting to spit in her drink lol). I just... love how it all ends with Reese softening and going back to the interrupted topic. I just think it's a great showcase of how R Verner is with MC vs the rest of the world. It's such a great view of how he treasures MC and how much softer he can become when it's just two of them, title be damned in moments of closeness. I just... I hug. I want to hug R Verner. I hope he knows he's loved and adored and appreciated as just Reese, our special rival.
