"Chapter 43: The big birthday bash" Oh no. Oh no. Oh no. No. Not this again. I'm begging you, 464, just one nice party where Tabitha doesn't get nearly killed.

Nick

See, I was thinking the exact opposite. I thought Mrs. Macintire was completely reading it wrong. Because that sounds like textbook overly self conscious Tabitha behavior. She's used to cooking with imitation vanilla...probably always did it as an adult too, so she expects her french toast to taste a certian way. When it doesn't, oh no it's wrong!!! Tabitha goes into self concious spiral, it's wrong=it's bad=I wasted a bunch of food=guilt guilt guilt, up until Sandra tells her it's good, which knowing Tabitha she automatically assumes is just Sandra trying to be nice, until she's convinced by how she ate it all/asked for more to go. Then in typical Tabitha fashion, she gives her more either out of relief it isn't bad or wanting to make sure Sandra doesn't go hungry later. I dunno this seems typical textbook tabs being overly self conscious/slightly ocd to me. I just think Sandra is seeing manipulation there cause she doesn't quite realize how self critical Tabitha is yet, and Tabitha being manipulative makes more since to her.

There is no a small risk that Tabby starts coming off as a bit of a mary sue if she is so good at everything. I liked it at first but by the end was starting to feel like the reaction was a bit much. Tricking the family into eating her food for example is a bit over the top imo. Might just be me? I dunno, thanks for the chapter :)

The impact Tabitha's round-trip has on the Macintires is probably the biggest (though the one on Ashley and her family is definitely also very significant). She not only saved the life of Hannah's dad but also tutors/babysits her now in a way that turbo-charges the girl's already quite significant intelligence.

Orthen

Loved this chapter, though I do hope Tabitha doesn't become too estranged from her parents. Particularly her mother, since they were just beginning to reconnect and she has a younger sibling on the way!

Kalel

I simply loved this chapter! Made me rethink how I should act around my kid as well.

A K

Well, yes. However, those questions are similar to lesson plan guides that are included with some editions of children’s and YA books.

Yes! Yes! YES!!! MORE!!! haha, but really how would Gaston take to Ariel? quite poorly I'd wager saving him wouldn't endear him to her as it had Prince Eric giving his Macho tendencies... but enough about that love the chapter can't wait for the next. :D

Biblion

I love this first part of the chapter. And particularly Tabby teaching Hannah how to make pancakes. I'm working on the same thing with my daughter. (My dad-joke is that I hope to have her able to make pancakes by herself before she's ten - I don't mind having to clean the kitchen, I just want someone else to MAKE them!) But seriously, this is a great refuge of stability for Tabitha, and it looks as if she's able to one day adopt Julie, she'll be an incredible Mom to her. She's keeping up with her schooling from home, then? Obviously she doesn't need it other than on paper - but getting a GED at her age might bring attention she doesn't want. The education system is bound and determined (maybe not everywhere, but in general) to keep track of every child under the age of majority, and from my experience, even if they test out early, they HAVE to be in some structured program, be it early college admission or some alternate program until they're 18. Given her encounters so far with the school and district administration, they WILL be making sure she doesn't fall through the cracks.

> “What if the first human Ariel met was Gaston from Beauty and the Beast, instead of Prince Eric? Maybe Gaston would fall in love with Ariel, and then have to grapple with her inhuman origins. Could he eventually overcome the thought of treating those different from him simply as monsters? Do you think Gaston could have been redeemed in the right circumstances, if he’d been in the right story?” Gotta get them started on writing fanfiction early.

Nick

And here I was hoping for a Pokémon tournament arc...

Flying Goat

Great chapter. Should be “ramble on” or “ramble away” instead of “ramble on away.” Also “with numbers” not “in with.”

jmundt33a

Great chapter! Good job with the voice and pacing. I love this!

Mkrayn

Wow I loved this chapter! Hoping to see her sort things out with her cousins and grandma Laurie soon.

Matt

Great! I think a lack of drama here and there can step up the intensity for when it does come.

MVFast

I love the literary analysis surrounding the Disney books! Reminds me that I don’t think about what I read enough these days.

Izzymira

Thanks for the story this was an enjoyable read

Jeanie6754

I guess this kind of thing has become habitual, after playing with the boys and trying so hard to get her own family to eat healthy. On a different note, this kind of drama-free scene in a work of fiction always raises my hackles a bit, as I wait for the other shoe to drop.

Too Much Sanity May Be Madness

I love this story, and I love this chapter, and I love love love Tabitha. Thank you, and write faster!

Mark Adkins

Awesome chapter! Had me grinning away almost through the entire thing.

FieryFern
