AnimeCon Harem Book 1 Launch

AnimeCon Harem Book 1 Launch

Comments

Just found this book and read through it and generally really enjoyed it. I liked all the characters, even if the antagonist is rather over the top in her one dimensionality. Everyone else is great. Plus, none of them are perfect, they all have issues, so they come across as believable, magic hair color aside, because life is a struggle, and these people are struggling. All of that said, I'd like to leave some constructive feedback. While I know the series is done, hopefully this will help with future works. 1. Don't mix 3rd person and 1st person, mid chapter. Its a big writing no no. It injects confusion and is weird to suddenly shift from she, they etc. To I and me. (When showing thoughts, that's a bit different, and is fine, I'm talking about clear language shifts from one paragraph to the next) Along with that is not juggling POVs mid chapter. If this is from Kelly's POV, it should stay that way, not jump to someone else for 2 or 3 paragraphs then jump back. If you make a clear break, which you do quite well, that's fine. Hopping back and forth not so much. 2.S'not. Really? Really?? You actually have them saying snot?? That's just awful. It's not is proper grammar and works just fine. Making the characters refuse to use it has them come across as vapid. Proper grammar is your friend, it makes it easier for everyone to read. 3. The book has a LOT of unnecessary filler in it, mostly by way of reaching into the past for roughly 100 pages. While some of what's shared is VERY important, and helps add context, there's too much reliance on past conversations that drag on too long. When providing context via past events, get in and get out. Make it quick so we can get back to the story. Otherwise it gets boring. This is probably most jarring here because the first half of the book proceeds rapidly and really engages you as a reader, and then suddenly for multiple chapters you're slogging through memories, wondering when you're going to get back to the convention. The editing was okay, but there are a number of mistakes throughout the book that should have been caught. None of this will stop me from reading book 2. I simply want to provide feedback because I genuinely like the way you write, and it would be awesome with a few technical improvements.

When is book 2 out

Richard Massman

Ok, I gotta ask... Is the old cover art around anywhere? Because this new cover art bugs me. Why is it set outside? Why is Stephanie's chest way too big? Like... I love BtDEM, but I don't know why Selkie pushed for new cover art.... Apologies for the negativity, but... I really, really miss the old art on RR. Edit: and I should clarify that the reason this new art is in my face so much, is because I bought the book, so I keep seeing it in my Kindle library. ;)

Really really happy for you. I hope it goes viral and becomes a multimillion dollar franchise.

CuyahogaKingKong

Congratulations! Bought it!

Glad the sexiness of early chapters stayed. When things stabilize, you should consider an audiobook for this as well.

Great! Downloading it now! Love this story, one of my favorites. Gotta say, though, for such a great story, the descriptive blurb on the Amazon page is kinda bland. If you have the ability to change it, I’d suggest something like this: “Brian is having a crappy week. “His girlfriend broke up with him, and he’s kinda broke up about that… although he’s having a hard time figuring out why. Still, he’s got two tickets to AnimeCon in his pocket and a burning need to geek out some frustrations, so when his friend Emily gives him her joke ‘harem charm’, he decides to roll with it. “Never mind that electric feeling when he touched it. Never mind that look Emily gave him before she left. He’s going to dress up in a goofy costume, have fun, and forget his troubles for a little while. “What could possibly happen at AnimeCon?”

Review left! 5 stars, naturally. Telling people to stop overthinking it and just buy it, if they made it far enough to read my review. Best of luck!

Marcus Cassin

Just snagged my copy. Congrats on getting published!

masknshadows

Coolio dude.

Jeanie6754

Got my copy!

White Neko Knight

Congrats!

Longoo

Also notably the stuff is no longer on Royal Road so this is basically the only way to reread ACH

HornsOfTheseus

Is there a single ebook file somewhere with the patreon chapters and whatnot that is listed in the guide page for the pre-RenFaire content?

Telamonster

Congrats! I'm really happy for you!!

Thomas Pruckner

Congratulations, hopefully the ebook gets off the ground.

mhaj58

Well, I'm certainly hoping it does well enough to justify an audiobook! That would be fantastic!

Frederick Frederickson

Thank you for the review! I'm refreshing nonstop to see if/when they start showing reviews and rankings. The print versions and audiobook will depend on whether or not it performs well as an ebook first. I obviously want both, but I have to have good numbers to show Mango Media that it's worth it.

Click. Done.

Not sure why it's not showing up on the page, Amazon sent me an email saying the review has been published. https://www.amazon.com/review/R1QYMQE6C3Z4AG/ref=cm_cr_srp_d_rdp_perm?ie=UTF8

Awesome man!

Any plans to offer print on demand through Amazon? https://kdp.amazon.com/en_US/help/topic/GHKDSCW2KQ3K4UU4 It would be really cool to have a paperback, but I understand if it's not possible for any number of reasons. I'm writing a review on Amazon for the Kindle version. We'll see if it's the first one, or someone else beats be to it.

Frederick Frederickson

It does not! The secret chapters remain Patreon exclusive.

FortySixtyFour

congratulations !!

GrumpyJustGrumpy

Does that include the foxy stuff? Or is it gonna be the same as what's on royal road but completed?

Jacob Bissey

Congratulations!

WarStrider72

Congratulations, please let us know when the paperback is available
