Bring Back Her Heart In This

To celebrate Villaintine's day itself I added the second magical item to the collection with the Evil Queen's Heart Box featured in Snow White. I decided to print both of my models in PLA this time because I think FDM is much better suited for inorganic stuff like this. Both prints came out amazingly, some of the patterns the printer has left behind look like wood grain or fancy borders which has given the models a really nice overall texture.

For the clean variant I wanted to replicate the box from the movie as closely as possible, so for the main red I used a bottom coat of Valejo Blood Red, with a top coat of Daler Rowney Crimson. It's much thicker so less coats are needed and it's also slightly darker in colour.

For the box patterns I mixed a dab of turquoise with a lot of white to get the light blue colour. I used escorpena green for the light green parts and goblin green for the corners and details. To paint the golden heart and sword I used Valejo polished gold.

The finished result looks really good but I think I'm going to spray it with a coat of gloss lacquer to give it a nice smooth finish and to protect the paint since I'm planning on using it as a Jewellery box.

The ornamental variant turned out beautifully, I almost didn't want to paint the print so in the end I opted to keep the patterning the same colour as the box, since I couldn't decide on a colour that would work for it. I used Arteza Strawberry Red for the main box itself and Lime green, Sky Blue, Glacier Blue, and Olive Green for the box details.

I printed the Poison Heart in Golden PLA which also came out beautifully. I'm quite happy with this model, its not too creepy and its something cool to keep inside the ornamental box, which I'm going to be keeping with my collection. I'm planning to make the Magic Mirror at some point as the final Snow White magical item for the collection.
