Oh Flounder, You Really Are A Guppy
Added 2023-05-26 16:51:39 +0000 UTCWith the release of the little mermaid live action today, the first character we added to the collection this month was Ariel's loyal companion, Flounder! This model was so much fun to make and I really enjoyed every step of it, Flounder is such a fun and love-able character and with his bright colours, he's made a perfect new addition to the collection.
For the Clean Variant I painted flounder using Daler Rowney System 3 Acrylics, using a mix of white and yellow for his main colour, a mix of turquoise and white for his hair, fins and stripes and a mix of red and white for the inside of his mouth. I then sprayed him with a coat of high gloss lacquer to give him a nice underwater shine.
To paint my Ornamental version I used Arteza Metallics in Golden Hour, Turquoise, and Electric Blue for his main colours and Glacier Blue, Turquoise and Valejo Polished Gold for his patterns.
Both models turned out really nicely and I'm really excited to make a home for him in a couple of weeks, it's going to incorporate a few things coming out on the page and I think it'll bring them all together really nicely as well as make an awesome display for him. Otherwise for the collection I plan to model Sebastian, Max and maybe even Scuttle at some point.
