Don't Be Scared. We Represent Someone That Can Help You

Our next character model out this month was of Ursula's sinister spies, Flotsam and Jetsam. As Disney Henchmen go I really love these two, they're dark and mysterious and add a really eerie tone to the film, they're also competent minions which makes a nice change and I LOVE the creepy way they talk. Although they play a minor role in the movie they do an amazing job of representing one of Disney's greatest Villains and I'm really excited to add the new model to the collection.

For the clean model I used Daler Rowney System 3 Acrylics, first mixing white and turquoise to create their eerie green colour, before adding 2 coats of plain turquoise to their fins. I then painted their eyes and details and sprayed it with a finishing coat of gloss lacquer to seal the model and give it a nice underwater shine.

For the ornamental model I repeated the same steps for the base layer, before adding a top coat of Arteza metallic paints. I discovered recently this method gives a much more vibrant appearance to the paints as well as produces the same metallic shine. For their main colour I used Pearl Turqoise, and to paint their fins I used a 50/50 mix of Pearl Turquoise and Space Grey.  

I'm really happy with this model, its easily one of my new favourites within the collection and both prints have turned out beautifully. Other Little Mermaid villains I plan to model are both versions of Undertoe, cloak and dagger and a massive Ursula Kraken model based on the ending scene when we hit 100 subscribers!
