The final addition to our little mermaid month is Ursula's cauldron, now available to download below. Attached are the cauldron base for the waterball and Flounders coral base to go inside. The glass waterball itself can be purchased here from Aliexpress in size 100mm, and Flounder can be resized to 6cm lengthways to fit inside.
The cauldron takes a full day to print and the coral base prints in about 3 hours. To assemble the cauldron first attach flounder to the coral using some hot glue and then attach the model to the rubber lid using contact adhesive.
Next fill the water ball with distilled water, about half a tablespoon of glycerine and then add some glitter, I used light and dark blue and silver. Then lower the model into the water and gently attach the lid, before finally gluing the waterball into the cauldron using lots of contact adhesive to make sure its secure.
I had to make the cauldron a little wider to house the waterball rim but its left a nice gap to maybe put some lights and give it that extra magical look. This one was a lot of work but its made the perfect home for my Flounder model, I feel like Ursula spying through her crystal ball.
Updates and the next model coming later today!
See you in the next post,
