Remy is a very talented rat who dreams of becoming a world famous chef in Disney's Ratatouille.
For his pose I'm going to model him holding his wooden spoon and wearing his little chef's hat, sitting like he is in the picture below, I think it'll have a nice combination of cuteness as well as represent what he does quite well. Being one of my favourite characters, I've been quite excited to work on this one for a while and I think he's gonna make an awesome new model for the collection.
I'll be working on Remy today so I should have the progress post out for a first look at the model sometime throughout tomorrow, with the clean version to follow on Tuesday. Character trivia is below, as always thanks for subscribing!

- Remy's gift with food allows him to identify the different ingredients in a dish. This led to him being appointed as food inspector by his father after he stops him from eating a poisoned apple core.
- Remy walks on two feet instead of four because he doesn't like the idea of his paws touching the ground as well as his food.
- Rats cannot vomit, yet Remy nearly throws up from the soup made by Linguini, indicating how bad the soup really is.
- Remy makes a cameo appearance in Disney's 'Inside Out' as the dead mouse inside Riley's new home in San Francisco. He also makes a cameo in the LEGO Frozen Northern Lights movie as a rat serving ratatouille for Kristoff. Remy can also be seen as one of the chefs working at the Manticore's Tavern in Onward.
- He was listed #41 in Empire Magazine's 50 Best Animated Movie Characters.
- In WALL-E, a tribute to Remy is shown as a robot named REM-E, shown onboard the Axiom inside the garbage chute.
- Remy himself has 1,150,070 individual hairs on his body, more than double the number of hairs on an actual rat, who typically have around half a millions hairs.
- Comedian Patton Oswald was cast as the voice of Remy after director Brad Bird heard him talking about food on the radio.
- In order to assist the animators in creating an accurate look for the rats, a vivarium containing several rats was placed in the hallway for over a year so animators could study the movement of the animals’ fur, noses, ears, paws, and tails.
- In order to accurately depict the fuzz on the rats’ noses, ears, and tails the animators used a peach for reference.
See you in the next post,
