Jaq is Cinderella's main mouse and leader of the house Mice in the animated feature Cinderella. He is mischievious, smart and brave and his main goals in the film are to avoid the cat and help Cinderelly who he cares for deeply.
Jaq is the 3rd and final part of my 3 part model alongside Gus and Lucifer. The idea was to have them acting out the bead scene from the film and have Lucifer sneaking up behind them. I also wanted them to work as standalone models, so I chose Gus' signature pose with beads on his tail like in the scene, and Lucifer sneaking up getting ready to pounce. Jaq doesn't really have a signature pose so instead I've designed a really cute one of him leaning forwards on a bead getting ready to pick it up, this will also work as a standalone model.
I've already started the model and he's looking really cute so far! the wip post will be out tomorrow, followed by the first version on Sunday at the latest with the deco model to follow a day or so later. I wasn't doing character trivia when I first made Gus so I've included the trivia for both down below. As always thanks for subscribing!
- Jaq and Gus' full names are actually Jackson Hopscotch and Octavius "Augustus" Lollygagger.
- Gus' full name is Octavius, after the Roman Emperor who was later known as Caesar Augustus, Emperor Octavius was renamed Augustus when he became Caesar. In the French dub, he is named Gustave.
- Jaq was shown to be the first of the mice to actually confront Lucifer and the only one brave enough to take him on alone.
- Jimmy MacDonald, who voiced Jaq and Gus in the original film, was also the then-current voice of Mickey Mouse.
- The theme park character versions of Jaq and Gus are gray, yet in the movies and other appearances, they are brown.
- In Cinderella II: Dreams Come True, Jaq and Mary appear to be a couple, since Mary kisses Jaq after he saves the day. Jaq, in turn, kisses her back.
- The fast-paced, high-pitched, unintelligible language spoken by the mice in Cinderella was dubbed "Mouse Latin" by Disney story man Winston Hibler.
- Jaq's name is often pronounced differently by different characters. Some pronounce it "Jack", while others say it as "Jock". There are about four total pronunciations of his name, yet he responds to all of them.
- In Ralph Breaks The Internet, Merida shoots two arrows carrying Jaq and Gus. The duo then assist the princesses in creating a parachute intended to catch Ralph during his fall.
