Fun fact: the mechanism of teleportation hypothesized to be used in this series as a replacement for shipping would not, in fact, eliminate many jobs. In fact, it’d almost certainly result in a net increase of employment in logistics. By quite a bit. Even more interesting (!!), I’m not sure that it’s actually faster on the Shanghai:LA corridor than boats. Which sounds like a crazy thing to say, but an Irina-class container ship can deliver a shipping container across the Atlantic every minute. Which is to say, it takes fewer minutes for it to cross the ocean than it contains containers. And it loads/unloads with massively parallel robotic equipment. So anyways, a bunch of teleportation engines only change the face of logistics if you fundamentally reimagine global commerce. Which could happen, and which would (probably? potentially?) be wonderful! But not because of speed or throughput.

It is very common for people to begrudge it in bad relationships, fairly enough, but it is just another emotional struggle much like BPD or even some parts of Autism or OCD, rather than a personality trait to hold forever as a grudge
