2024-11-18 09:23:49 +0000 UTCThe dynamic between all of the characters in this show and how they develop over time is truly fascinating. I also love how it's shot, many scenes are of people just staring at each other with little to no dialog/narration/BGM, yet everyone's acting is so superb you can tell exactly what each character is thinking even when a character is facing away or at an oblique side angle from the camera. It's all pretty atmospheric and moody, which greatly adds to the tension of the unfolding plotline.

2024-11-18 03:04:08 +0000 UTCJi-An is completely emotionally shutdown much like Man Wol was, but Man Wol had wealth and power while Ji-An has nothing except her grandmother, who is the only one in the world that she cares about. IU's youth was much like that of Ji'An. She was born into a wealthy family that lost everything in the South Korean stock market crash in the 1990s. She was sent to live with her grandmother while her parents hid from creditors. She lived in extreme poverty. Filming this show came close to breaking her health because it hit too close to home. The worn unhealthy look Ji-An has is real. After IU became a Kpop star she was able to finally pay off her family's debts. The bright spots in the show are the relationships between the good people. The three brothers are very funny and they will grow on you. One last thing. Remember when Ji-An told the loan shark she hated people talking to her while she was eating? Notice how Dong-Hoon doesn't say a word to her until she finishes her meal.
