VERY OLD SKETCHES: Leather Edition

I am not sure you all are aware, but I kiiiiiind of have a thing for leather!

So most of these sketches have never been seen by anyone; they were done between my teenage years and into my early twenties. I would draw them in secret and then bury them in notebooks under other stacks of books in hope no one would ever locate them hahaha. I was a very timid youth, holding so, so much of myself in for fear of considering what someone might think if they knew this about me??? (The real answer, it seems, is that they would think I was cool as shit hahaha)

All of these drawings were done before I knew I was trans, but in them, you can see the type of woman I admired/wanted to become: the baddest of baddies, looking like a queen in any room she walks into, commanding the attention of every person in a six-mile radius. I wonder who I would be now if I had felt comfortable being myself at the time, but honestly I think those years are so confusing for everyone lmao.

But yeah, the first drawing there is the first piece I ever did of a girl in leather (when I was twelve or thirteen); she was based off the badass genie from SCREAM OF THE EVIL GENIE from the Give Yourself Goosebumps line of books by R. L. STINE, a character who I imagined as so hot and intriguing in my brain (each time she came out of the coke can to grant a new wish, she looked more evil and more badass, and I was just like 🥵🥵🥵). I honestly feel like I should do another drawing of her now, like twenty-two years later lmao. I think it would be incredible 😎

The rest of the drawings are just sketches I did throughout the years, with my method of drawing and rendering leather changing as time went on. A lot of these were also done before I REALLY got back into drawing, and so I had yet to find my groove, but I DO think they hopefully provide a fascinating insight into how I got to this point! I will likely do another post in the near-future describing the type a leather I was drawing around the time I came out, which has a similar vibe, but with a more intricate design!
