Comic/Commissions and New Work

So I have “completed” the pencils on the comic commission, which was a pretty startling challenge, as I realized that fitting in whole narrative into one 9x12 Page was...well, it meant losing some of the detail I typically put into things. I’ll have it inked in the next day or two, but for now let me show you 1) how the page looked when I still had stuff to fix/wasn’t fully sure what I was doing with that third panel, and 2) the more or less finished pencils.

As you can see, I tweaked some stuff here and there, like the positioning of her hands in the final panel, how the dude’s faces were arranged in panel one, and the size of that dude’s head who is getting choked out with the chain (because it didn’t move well enough into the panel of the lips smiling). I am...pretty happy with it? But I still might alter some stuff. Like, I don’t like that I have two arms in almost the same position in panels that are basically right next to each other (might erase the dude’s). Hoping this uhhhhhhh works out well in ink!

I also have almost fully finished this other commission, which was to recreate this pic of a friend and her mom as a drawing with the words “Best Friends Forever” on it (still have to more correctly place and ink them). Didn’t snap the pencils cuz I was too on-a-roll. Pretty happy with how this one came out, and also glad to have had this one to do where I had to put much less thought into it.

Finally, here is the thing I am ACTUALLY excited about - this random cool-girl drawing I did last night after I’d finished the comic but before I had started the other one. She a babe. I might tweak just a couple of tiny things before inking, but like here it is in its pencilled glory!

When people ask me what I draw, I always say “comics and pinups of fashionable babes,” which is true, but I also think this is the closest thing to an ACTUAL pinup I have ever done. But she like v cool. Unfortunately I don’t have the time to finish her until probably AFTER Christmas, and so we’ll see when I can publish the final colored version.
