Some unfinished art pieces and the beginnings of a new comic

Art slumps suck for a lot of reasons, but I have been trying to work through mine for a while now (unfortunately to little avail, but...). Still, I have been typically putting hours per day into drawing, only to come out with a few things that I’m fond of, if any. And so here are some I was working on!

This was something that I liked quite a bit, but I felt it was a bit rough for me to finish (???). Might redo the hair at some point and try to work on it some more, because I like her, in general. I do think the sketchiness is good with it, tho, and so I wonder if I can convey that in inks?

Tried to do another cleaner and bigger version of the above pic, and like it’s just not as good or dynamic. There’s something about her face that I just am not fond of. I dunno. Probs not gonna finish this one.

Like this girl’s jacket, but little else. Just feels like more of the same, and I just don’t want to keep doing that.

I love this one, but I am having the hardest time figuring out what’s going on with her legs, particularly with regard to her underwear??? Still, I love the pose, and I love the jacket. I’m hoping to be able to push myself to finish it.

And this is the first thing I drew for my new comic. Comics are really hard, and my method in creating them is not ideal - I kinda have to start with an image, and then I build the whole narrative around that image. I sat for two days staring at this page until I realized I didn’t have it in me to tell some kinda backstage story - or I didn’t know what I would say about it - until finally last night I realized I can keep the drawing of her and just erase the “stage” sign and build something else entirely (which I did right before going to sleep last night). Going to try a new method to keep myself from getting discouraged here, hopefully by only laying out a few pages at once and then drawing them before I move onto any others. I like this comic idea - it’s actually funny with a punchline, which is very unlike how I normally write, or WHAT I normally write.

So yeah, that’s my update. No new fully finished art, but I am trying really hard to work on whatever’s going on with me that’s causing some kind of mental block. I really appreciate y’all. Thank you.
