Honestly I like each of these drawings quite a bit, even tho they each have their issues (3 being I think the most egregious with those angles of the faces and that horrific hand!); I feel like I have been trying new things with every drawing I have been doing lately, whether it is with a new brush type, or a new type of lighting, or anything like that.

I also like that Gertrude is kinda malleable - it should be no surprise to any of you that I pull a lot of Gertrude vibes from my own interests in fashion, never really putting her in anything I wouldn’t be interested in, myself. I just really want her out here having fun and being hot in many different ways!

Honestly with all of these, I think my entire method of creation is flipping, because I inked all of them after I started coloring them. I don’t know why I do that, other than that I think I want to see the drawing come alive with more haste because I am impatient. So then the inking is awkward cuz I am working around colors already there! But hey, if it helps me see the work more clearly, why not?

Now for some process shots! Some of these I didn’t include certain steps (like flats) just because those steps didn’t really happen hehe

I think this drawing was um pretty transformed by that coloring. It kindaaaaa hides some of the imperfections!

Lol these pencils are trash. Like I ended up not doing the multiple belts just because I wasn’t convinced by them, and the way I was coloring just didn’t help that desire in any way (basically I just laid down some flat color over the pencil work and then started rendering and then started inking; it’s why she’s also just wayyyy less decked-out than like almost any other Gertrude I would draw). Also I made a weird mistake in the pencils that I only realized after I’d finished coloring the entire thing; I put her extended leg just wayyyy too low, and so much so that the ass cheeks just did not line up at all! So I had to go in and reposition that shit and take a bunch of stupid time to fix it hahahaaa

This one is pretty self-explanatory, but like the others, there was a whole lot of cleaning up to do on it, just because I colored before I inked. But she is really cute! I am noticing that I really have to solidify how her hair works, though. The first manyyyyy drawings I did of her she was wearing that cap, and now I have given her a bunch of looks without it, but the hair is kinda a challenge haha.
