As I said in my last post, I’m gonna be sharing a lot of old, mostly completely unseen art for the next little bit while my life gets more settled, and so I’ll start with these! Most of these were drawn around the summer of 2015 (I think the third drawing here is the first I ever did of her); as an artist and a trans woman, I am endlessly fascinated with people transforming into radically different versions of themselves, so like here we have this fairly clean-cut-looking shy-ish girl who I guess turns into this um alternate uh version of herself who wears lots of cool leather fits n shit. Unfortunately for me, I am not good at sticking to one character for long, especially because I couldn’t figure out her narrative to save my life other than those vague ideas. It was basically just like “cute girl becomes hot girl,” and that was literally it.
Also, I honestly don’t know why I designed her hair like that. It ended up being one of those designs that I just didn’t know how to draw most of the time, especially because of that heavier chunk hanging off her face to the right. Like, the way her hair hangs reminds me more of like the rigid plastic of a toy than anything else, and I don’t like it! But then I often give characters I design something that I am not good at drawing (Gertrude’s hat, anyone?), cuz I am a dumdum!
Anyway, I am sure I’ll never do something with this character, but I also know that my obsession with people magically changing isn’t just something that has or ever will go away, and will likely be put into another story at some point (hell, depending on how you read My Life to Live, it’s already in there). Still, this girl’s aesthetic is pretty killer, but of course it is because I designed her ehehe
Speaking of design, like I need to get better about designing different bodies and characters beyond like a face-swap. Literally you could put Gertrude in this fit and it would be basically exactly the same, and I don’t love that! It’s like, is she hot? Sure! Are there other ways of dressing while still being hot? ABSOLUTELY! Like this isn’t even the only aesthetic I am attracted to (even if it is the one I am MOST attracted to) - AND ALSO, like I can draw aesthetics I’m not attracted to because those also exist in the world lolol. So thankfully - and we’ll see if this comes to pass! - I am cooking up a story that takes place primarily in the sixties with like cute and fresh, pop-oriented fits. Can’t say there WON’T be leather, but damn if there won’t be half as much!!
As always, thank y’all for your support! I am hoping to pump out a few more posts before year’s end, and so look out for those (especially my deep dive into MLTL!). Seeya soooooooon!
