Howdy yall!
I finally banged my head hard enough that I figured out my biggest hurdle with city destruction. Now that the issue has been resolved, I can move forward and polish this bad boy up :)
These images ARE NOT THE POLISHED PRODUCT. I just wanted to show you all a preview before I spruce things up with the works (collectibles, particle effects, sounds, camera shake etc...).
I also wanted to demonstrate the different kinds of destruction you will encounter in game.
1. Dynamic destruction: This state is triggered when the giantess is relatively the same size as the building. At this state, breaking parts of a building drops resources to collect (Just like when you destroy cars). My future idea for this mechanic is to use a combo multiplier to determine the amount of resources to drop.
Once you destroy enough objects and grow to a certain size, the smaller building you collide with destroy in a different way...
2. Animated Destruction: Since Dynamic destruction is pretty performant heavy, having every building turn dynamic at a mega sizes will take a toll on the frame rate. Which is why, I decided to use pre-determined animations to simulate TOTAL BUILDING DEMOLITION (electric guitar noises). At this point, destroying buildings will give you a massive amount of collectibles and kills, but it will take a lot more to grow further. The good thing about this state is the your mega size doesn't have to concern herself with trivial combos. Just do what a giantess do and trample this city :)
