Womble's Soapbox - DayZ Standalone - Update #4

Thanks for all of your opinions on my next move, folks. Though I've not responded to everything I did read it all. And I probably won't go for a whopping 8 weeks to be honest. Might be overkill. But I'll see where I stand in the next couple of weeks.

During which I've decided to work on parts 4 and 5 of the DayZ Standalone Critique. Yesterday I made some changes to part 4's script. Today I finished recording the audio. And by Friday I'm hoping to have it ready for you to view in the usual draft form :)

Next week I'll do part 5.

Part 4 is called 'Womble's Soapbox - DayZ Standalone - The problem of balance'

Part 5 is called 'Womble's Soapbox - DayZ Standalone - A clan of farmers'

Ahhh but there was just so much to talk about. To be honest though, it's a bit of a selfish exercise. I really want to talk about a game I love so much :)

SovietWomble

Oh no worries. Going to take 2 weeks instead of 8. I also was convinced that 8 weeks was a bad idea :)

SovietWomble

Can you put out a quick two minute video, like Soldat Bullshittery, sometime during the 8 weeks of work?

I really enjoyed the first three parts of your soapbox series and feel that a high quality/detailed analysis of a franchise like this is unique on youtube. What may be a weakness, is that the length of series would limit the audience to "hardcore" Womble or DayZ fans. Would you consider limiting the amount of episodes to 3-4 if you were to make a another soapbox series (e.g. battlefield) ?

I think what he tries to say that there seem to be generally less Clans in the Standalone than in (atleast bigger versions of) the mod. Though I myself doubt that there is much to say about it because due to a generally low player count there is of course a lack of clans.

Yes indeed. That's part 08 - 'Womble's Soapbox - DayZ Standalone - The importance of tone'. There's so much to talk about with DayZ :)

SovietWomble

more in the sense that in the mod there was a lot more activities you could do with your clan, enhancing the experience and the feeling of a community. In the standalone version there's not a lot of stuff you can do to make it feel as though you're part of a clan/community other than staying alive together. Not only is this because of the lack of activities but also the lack of being able to communicate to each other on a wider spectrum. As far as I know (I have not played the latest few patches) you're only able to communicate with people in your direct vicinity

Possibly! I know that's a popular one.

SovietWomble

In what sense sorry? Isn't that specific to each individual server?

SovietWomble

Will there be a Soapbox DayZ Standalone video (or just a segment of a video) where you talk about communities and clans that are lacking in the standalone, but have always been there for the mod?

Though I didn't post a comment, I did vote against the 8 weeks "break". Not really because I'd personally mind, but I think it'd lead to general annoyance among some/many youtube subs. You know how there's always those people during streams bothering you about uploading more videos, imagine that tenfolds, lol.

I also thought 8 weeks was a bit extreme.

And then CS:GO Bullshittery ? :)))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))
