Random Arma Bullshittery - Update #1

Many thanks for your votes and your comments on the previous update. Thank you for agreeing with me on the Arma thing. At the moment I think I need something that's a tad easier to on the editing front. I will certainly get around to doing Divinity, Human Fall Flat, Gang Beasts, etc. I look forward to Gang Beasts especially. It's just that two heavy-edits in a row is a bit hurty on the brain. The level of key-framing involved is going to be a bit crazy.

Right then, based mainly on the poll results, I've been having a bash at 'Random Arma Bullshittery (part 9)' to follow part 8 that was edited back in August last year.

Now it takes approximately 30-35 individual scenes per 10 minutes of bullshittery. And after the pre-production work on Thursday and Friday I've determined that I have about 70 available. Meaning I should have plenty remaining for part 10 at the end of the edit. Which is great. Stuff to get the ball rolling next time.

But...I have two goals in this particular bullshittery. Which might end up conflicting fairly early:

Therefore on my timeline I've currently got what I'm calling "the Resistance blob". A large chunk of (mostly unedited) footage in the middle that showcases the Antistasi stuff - how we start as freedom-fighters for democracy and end up killing POW's etc.

So the larger follow up questions are: how long are those scenes? How much of the 10 minutes will they need out of my ten minute budget? Five minutes? Seven minutes? And if so, is it worth adding more clips at the beginning and end in order to get that bullshittery pace? Heck if the resistance blob ends up really big then I wonder if it's worth cutting out entirely to have as a stand-alone video later. That sort of thing.

So to answer these broad questions I've decided to start the edit right in the middle. I'm currently cutting to see how of the runtime it requires. I should know fairly soon.

In terms of estimates, by the end of this week (Friday 27th April) I should have most of the episode cut on a timeline, just without the text/animations. Then next week I should be able to manage 5 minutes of the After Effects work (this takes approximately 1 minute per work day). Then by the week after that another 5 minutes. Meaning the video, if all goes to plan, should be ready around 3rd week of May.

I'll keep you informed as I go. Still only day two. Wish me luck.
