Holdfast: Nations at War - NESTING FOOTAGE

Good morning dear Patrons!

I'm back and feeling refreshed after taking a short break last week. In which I played lots of Space Engineers with the ZF guys and generally didn't think about work at all. After such a grueling editing effort on Arma, I really needed that.

Now, time to get back on the horse.

While my first choice now would be to do the final chapter of the DayZ video essay, in which I break down the nature of Agile development, it is worth noting that I actually failed my objective with ARMA. My plan was to finish a standard 10 minute long video after the 27 minute Mount & Blade Bullshittery in order to show that two months is not the new standard.

Therefore I think it might be a smarter idea to do a couple of videos that are shorter. And I was thinking of Holdfast Nations at War. Possibly followed by a very time-boxed episode of PUBG Bullshittery. Maybe. I would first like to know your thoughts on the topic?

Either way, what I'm currently doing though is what's called "Nesting" for some of the footage I have on my hard drives. This is a necessary first step in which I go through the available footage and save what might be useful, discarding the rest. And how speedy this process is depends entirely on the game type and how well I've kept my notes. And I've started yesterday with Holdfast because I have a particular flavor of video in mind...

I was thinking of doing a short video called "Holdfast shows the grim reality of 18th century warfare". And then cut in only the bizzare silliness that was our recent Holdfast sessions. Where the French are charging screaming "VIVA LA CROISSANT", we're marching forward whilst someone is playing "You've got a friend in me". And a British infantry-man with a thick Boston accent is yelling "I'M WALKING 'ERE!!". It was all incredibly silly.

I can save the back-and-forth ZF banter for a true Holdfast bullshittery. But for the moment I was thinking of doing just this surreal video gag, which would probably only be 2 minutes long ish.

TL;DR - This week I'm going through footage to see what's there, starting with Holdfast Nations at War. A similar process needs to be done with Divinity, Rising Storm, etc. But Holdfast seems a sensible place to start due to the aforementioned gag idea.

Any thoughts?

You could use this idea for the footage you have on the freezer, the ones you know won't be played again. Quick, easy and short gag videos for shits and giggles. You could use the overwatch footage too. I know it was burned by a person but I for one would love to see your eye for humor on a video of that game.

A short video will be a nice addition to the ones you have already, a bit more diverse. IMO, it really depends on how many bullshitteries/episodes you want to make. I understand that you wanted Antistasi to fit into one episode, but other games/bullshitteries can be split into smaller pieces, like the 2 PUBG ones that are here now. Together also 20+ minutes, but spitting them up into 10 min blocks might A) be easier for you on editing B) make all us fanboys/girls/apaches - I mean normal people - happy to see your collection of awesomeness grow more steadily. For me - and thats just me as one shrimp - I'd prefer smaller videos often over long videos in a while, if you catch my drift. That having said, good luck and HAVE FUN with all the editing, the nesting and streaming/playing games Womble. It is only because you are having fun that we have our laughs and giggles. <3
