Just a brief update today folks. The edit is still much on going and approaching the final straights. Here's a shot of the timeline:

I'm just working to push it over the finish line. At which point phase 2 of keyframing commences. In which I reverse course and enhance temporarily visual effects or finish scenes intentionally skipped. Less a linear start-to-finish and more a touching up of bits and bobs across the whole timeline.
At the same time, overnight test renders will commence. Which is part of the quality assurance. And I can start stepping back to see if it looks right. Watching it through each morning and making a long list of things that need fixing. I can only do some nebulous handwavey'ness when describing how long that'll take, I'm afraid.
Sometimes it all clicks into place seamlessly. And sometimes it needs some more tweaking to flow properly.
Also, it's absolutely certain now that I'll make two versions. The first using the in-game cinematics to get it done quickly. And the second using custom-made animations that'll be more appropriate. I've already made two separate timelines to plan it out. The differences shown below:

The reason being is that the custom cinematics are going to take much longer to complete. And the artists I'm commissioning are naturally going to need more time. Nor I can't really start my own animation efforts until they're finished.
The principle difference in structure though is a lengthier ship escape cinematic, to accommodate a possible set of intro credits. If I can get it to match what's in my head.
On that front though, the artists are producing some excellent work. BewBewDingo for example came back with this. The 1st cinematic comp (of 3). I can't wait to start animating it and making it all move. These are merely assets, you see. To be animated in Adobe After Effects. I'm confident the opening few seconds of the video are going to be very sexy.

So yes *cough*, editing continues. Trying to push it over the finish line. And then begin the process of working it through quality assurance.
