Random Pavlov Bullshittery - Update #2

Sorry I was supposed to this update earlier this week, but I always found there was one last task to complete first.

So it's the end of the second week of work on Random Pavlov Bullshittery (part 1). And alas, I've found that what could be considered "pre-production" has taken quite a lot longer for a VR title.

In other games the presence of HUD elements and scoreboards make it very easy to scrub through to find the relevant funny moments, jotted down as notes on a notepad during the stream itself. CSGO is the perfect game for compilations due to the omnipresent two digit score indicators and self-contained rounds. But without any sort of helpful markers in Pavlov (or the ability to hold a pen during the VR games) I've had to go through and re-watch all 22 hours of stream footage to find everything.

That process is now complete and I've managed to produce this:

Three folders containing roughly 165 scenes, all "nested" and sorted chronologically with 3 audio layers a piece. Stored alongside any follow up call backs to the original gag.

Each 10 minute bullshittery usually contains about 30 - 40 scenes. So this is good news. It means I've effectively completed pre-production for 3 to 4 Pavlov bullshitteries. Which I hope explains the added workload.

I've already made a start with the first 10 minutes, transforming it into part 1. And I should have most of that done by Tuesday/Wednesday next week. To then make a start on the fancy text and animations. Though I don't yet know if there'll be any added technical complexity there. I'll keep you posted.

Additionally I've noticed something else. There's something different in the DNA of this one due to it being a VR title.

There are quite a few cool looking visuals and moments which cruises into the territory of "that looked awesome", without any specific gags present. Normally this would necessitate me leaving them on the cutting room floor. But I think under the circumstances they're worth including. I'm going to try to stagger them in such a way that has them fit alongside the comedy.

An example of the opposite would be something like PUBG, which is very visually weak. Where almost all the gags are overlayed on people running in a straight line or standing in a lobby. This one is the opposite - it's gorgeous to watch and there's lots of interesting stuff happening.

I'll crack on and pull the pieces of part 1 together. Should have a coherent video soon, at which point I'll make a start on the text and animations. As always, thank you for the generous support xx

sounds tricky but you'll get it sorted, it does look like the text parts could pose some new and interesting problems

Love the insights into your process, hope the VR editing doesn't provide a lot of technical difficulties. Good luck Womble.
