Video-essay update - Not quite ready yet, I'm afraid

Good evening everyone. I hope you've had a nice smooth week.

Thank you to those who messaged/emailed with their thoughts after the last update. I received a small mountain of replies, containing a wide range of opinions. It's all very helpful. I wonder if perhaps other Youtubers of my size are able to do the same with their audiences? Or whether they only have amorphous blob of analytics?

Generally the sentiment was that Space Engineers sounds like a good plan, though it's probably not wise to leave Arma too late. What with it being a series in progress. And many also seem quite keen to see the next piece of the video-essay. Which I'm pleased to hear.

So this week was the second week on re-working 01 - Introduction & Early Access.

Alas despite my hopes this week I wasn't able to have it ready by this weekend. Sorry about that. Meaning that progress will have to continue into next week. Some segments proved to be more complicated than I'd thought.  Though structurally I'm quite pleased with it.

The Adobe Premiere timeline currently looks like this for those curious:

So it's gone from audio-only at the start of the week, to most visuals ready. Though some open bits still remain. It's mostly a process of trying to find scenes that match what I'm talking about specifically. As on watching other video-essayists I find myself put off when the visuals do not tonally match what's being talked about.

Structurally, the episode starts off with an introduction and an explanation of what the project is. Followed by an introduction to the DayZ mod, an explanation of what the DayZ Standalone is. With the second half being a more general talk about Early Access pit-falls. Which ties back into DayZ at the end by explaining how they fell into both of them.

Additionally I decided to break out the graphics tablet and have some fun with a couple of scenes. There's a pair of animated segments that exist to visually explain a couple of  concepts. Such as Iterative Development (the process of working on software in cycles) and what happened when the Standalone went into early access when it it did.

So for now, I'm afraid the work continues into the start of next week. I need to get those last visuals done and start polishing what's there. Sorry for the delay. Hoping to have this video to you as soon as I can.

Thanks. I think this will really be good for getting your name out there as a content creator with a varied library. I'm really looking forward to the video essay going well so that you get encouraged to make some on why star wars sucks under disney, Warhammer's decline, the benefit of rifling on muskets, evolutionary biology, etc.

Quality over quantity. We appreciate your efforts in making your videos. A late video is better than a rushed and unpolished (by your absurd standard of course ;D) video.
