Random Space Engineers Bullshittery - Update #1

Thanks very much for all the feedback on the last piece of the video-essay folks.

I've gone and made a 'to-do' list of all the points and will likely try to sneak away to make an updated version at some point soon. Should be fairly straight-forward since it'll be mostly small tweaks.

In the mean time, onto the next video Random Space Engineers Bullshittery (part 3), which is on the third day of editing.

So it turns out that it's been such a long time since the last Space Engineers video that it actually predates my switching over to Adobe Premiere and After Effects. The previous video was done entirely in Sony Vegas 13. As a result, what I'm currently doing is a form of pre-production in which I need to build up a "master" project file in Adobe Premiere. Complete with "nested" sequences that let me easily pick and choose which stream highlights to use in a compilation.

That process has been underway since Friday and is going well. My notes are near perfect compared to something like Rocket League. Owing to the use of a stream-deck and a plugin which lets me press a button when someone interesting happens. Meaning I can go directly to the timestamp in question with little confusion.

There are about 32 individual live-streams with notable highlights. And I've worked through about 20 so far. Creating approximately 67 sequences of interest. Note that an average of 30 sequences are used to make a single bullshittery episode. Meaning there's at least two videos here.

Gameplay-wise these Space Engineers sessions concern the founding, construction and expansion of the ZF Moon Base. A play-through that includes a number of other planets (occasionally visited) as part of the full-release 1.0 version of Space Engineers. With major play sessions from March and October of this year.

In addition to the usual trolling antics, the cratered regolith bears witness to the semi-frequent aerial dogfights that occur between clan and regulars looking to test their fighter designs. And I was hoping to feature a few of them between the comedy. Though I kick myself for deciding to play battle music during the dog-fights themselves, as it now makes them very hard to edit. The music being baked into the same audio-layer.

So for the moment, the nesting of the highlights continues. But I'm very confident a bullshittery will start being pulled together soon. I've already identified two start and end points.

The work continues as planned. And it's very much making me want to play Space Engineers once more.

Comments

For those out of the loop, Cyanide played a projector block of his stupid face, blown up to gigantic proportions. He then put it under a shield block to prevent anybody, including himself, disabling it. He's such a cunt.

SovietWomble

Even if playing space engineers means looking at Cyanide's giant spinning head?

The Ferret

Good to hear it's going smoothly :)
