Dungeons & Dragons - Update #3

So it's the end of the 3rd week of work on Dungeons and Dragons bullshittery and I feel I've made some good progress.

What I'm currently doing is animating character 8 of 9 of the Dungeons and Dragons cartoon. Which predictably is one of the most difficult characters. As it's Lump Beefbroth - my personal one. Hence there's a lot of chatter. Lots of dialogue. And he's in most of the scenes.

Same problem is going to be present with character 9/9 - Cyanide.

But animation wise, I think things are turning out pretty well.

There are a few areas that I'd like to improve. Areas where, perhaps the scene isn't quite what I wanted. Or the perspective from the previs doesn't work as well in the final product.

But so far things are going alright. Albeit slowly.

I do however think it's a good idea to shelve the project again as 15 days is probably a good chunk of time to be working on it.

This type of editing is quite taxing. As you can't really put on some background music and zone out. You've got to listen to every cough and worded syllable to make the lips move. It's a little exhausting. And I'm worried about too big a gap in content on the channel as a whole.

Tell you what I have been doing though. I mentioned that I was making a google sheet of all the scenes in order to determine what's left to work on?

Well I've completed that process. And have gone through the timeline in Adobe Premiere and have applied "markers" to each scene to make them easier to find.

What I'm hoping, if I can get into the habit of it, is to quietly edit individual scenes in the background whilst working on other things. Perhaps in the mornings whilst sipping coffee.

This bullshittery isn't like other types at all. It's a patchwork layer of 9 bullshitteries, stacked in Premiere. 9 different characters, all with their own times (in seconds) in the scene.

If I can track individual chunks of work, like tickets, I can go "scene G23 - animate Lump's mouth for 20 seconds". Which could take half an hour. And if I can keep that as a habit, I might be able to quietly move it along in the background. Or at the very least, let me get back into it swiftly next time I do this side project.

Until I require more puppets from the artist of course. We'll see how it goes.

Tell you one thing though - doing the sheet does let me quickly determine how much is left to animate. And the results are a bit dispiriting.

Despite solid effort, I discovered today that I'm only 31.67% through Lump. And some of the others were lower than my prior estimates due to missing scenes. So quite a bit more work is needed going forward. I was really hoping I'd be further.

Drat :(

What I'm going to do now though, is put up some polls insofar as what you'd like me to focus on next. Whilst working on this a little bit more. I just really hope it's good when it's eventually complete.

Hope you all have a lovely weekend.

Bear with me. There's a follow up post after this one.

Sorry to hear you're feeling a bit dispirited but glad you're still plugging away. I think this will be a very funny bullshittery when it comes all together.
