The part about uncle engineer wasn't aware of Trans-Am, maybe we can related to how inefficient human reverse engineering an UFO craft, he is more likely a contructor who build Gundams based on provided manual and existing GN drive, of course he is still very talented by just being able to realize such advanced weapon
