Good morning all. And a huge welcome to all of the new Patrons coming in from the latest video. Thank you for your kindness for however long you deem to give it. I appreciate it hugely.
For those not keeping track, the public version of The Battle for Honeypot Hill went live on Sunday after a 5 hour early morning rendering session with the Adobe Media Encoder - https://youtu.be/eF80xlM1Wsg
For the newer Patrons, the public version was flanked by several draft versions that you can find in the previous posts if you scroll backwards. I try to get the edits in crowd funder hands as quickly as possible. Though they are usually full of placeholder animations, etc.

Normally the plan would be to recharge the mental batteries before the next project. But I feel I have one final task I'd like to complete before I do that.
Youtube age restricted the video to those over 18+

This is entirely understandable. It's chock-full of swearing. And I did miss a couple of the censorship of nude Rust characters. Whoops.
But since this video seems to be quite well-received, it would be nice to at least have an alternate cut available. Seems like a shame to have it locked behind an ID check. Especially for those who don't trust Google enough to submit to digital ID.
What I'd like to do now is to try to render an alternative cut, attempting to abide to Youtube's community guidelines. But one that also leaves the main video unaffected.
I've saved an alternate project file. All of the cache files still exist. The project is still on the high performance SSD drives. Seems wise to strike whilst the iron is still hot and everything is ready to go on my workstation.

My editing is made up of two sides, Adobe Premiere and Adobe After Effects. The former handles the audio and consists of one singular .proj file. The latter the individual text effects stored in about 200+ little .aep files.
Now, censoring swearing on the audio side of things is easy. It's all within Premiere. It's a case of making a little swear "beep" sound and pasting it over the audio in question. It'll take minutes. Note the little purple clips here.

Censoring the .aep files is a little harder though. Especially if I want to leave the main video entirely unaffected. For it involves making duplicate comps within the .aep files for all of the clips with swearing. Changing the text with censor marks. Then pasting it back into Premiere in place of the existing.

I'm pretty sure I can just re-dynamic link the .aep files like you do regular media. But I'll need to give it some testing. Otherwise this could get a little fiddley.
Additionally, I have a very pressing deadline this week that must be sorted. The filing of my taxes with the HMRC. That cannot wait. Else I get slapped with a fine. So I need to keep my brain cogs warmed up for a bit, before going to relax. No rest for the wicked.

Again speaking to the new Patrons, back in August there was a poll to determine the next bullshittery. And the climbing game PEAK won. I like to alternate between audience choice and my choice.
How this works, once I come back from a break, is that I begin the process of 'scrubbing'. Essentially going through the stream footage and the recorded notes, to see what I have that's actually helpful. At which point I'll let people know if I think something is viable for a full edit. Or whether it needs more streams.

So TL;DR on this week:
Attempting to render a Battle of Honeypot Hill version for those under 18.
File my taxes with HMRC.
Start a break from the editing, with PEAK being the plan for the next project.
Thank you all.
