The alignment is abit confusing, the first Lawful/Neutral/Chaotic representing their tendancy way of doing things, the second Good/Balance/Evil is the part confusing, could be the opinion of them by third person view, but sometimes it fits more like the measurement between selflessness vs selfish, whether they give attention to others while taking action. Gilgamesh in Fate is like the hero who lead human in a rebel war against "alien" domination, so he actually worthy of that pride and ego, as well as the responsibility to watch over humanity, or his "trophy". Kiritsugu is just being caution because this is literally a PUBG situation, when you revealing yourself by attacking Lancer's master, you are exposed for all possible observing opponent to target on, plus what if Lancer's master survive, Kayneath is the head of department in Clock tower, not surprise he is not ordinary master like Waver, the risk vs reward just doesn't balance out. BTW maybe assassin's stats appeared to be weak, but it will be enough to kill a few human fighters. All heroic spirit is the pinnacle of human in their specialized field, so imagine that they need to be at least Lv50/100 plus some achievement worth enough to prove their usefulness to humanity so they are qualified for a seat in Throne of Heroes, a Lv20~30/100 human assassin like Kiritsugu is not possible to fight a servants without severe tools preparation, proper field advantages, and most importantly, Luck. Luck can be said as the willingness of the God (writer) to plot a certain character their winning scene, of course in the view of those in the world, Luck is just what it is.
