Noble Red's deaths are so sudden and brutal, I love it. Everyone I've seen watch that moment doesn't immediately recognize what's happening when the beam first pierces Elsa, but the second Shem-ha moves it and cuts through them both is shocking for everyone. XV was the first time Symphogear got to really show proper blood and they embraced it for these key moments of shock. We got used to minimal blood and people disintegrating. Now people get impaled and sliced in half. It helps to raise the tension even more this season. EDIT: Thinking back, blood has been in Symphogear since season 1 (i.e. Tsubasa’s horrifying superb song), but I think the difference between XV and other seasons is that any instance of blood was when our cast was injured before. Whereas XV has bystanders and even our villains bleeding, far more violent. The blood of XV is the result of a purposefully vicious attack, not just an injury suffered. There’s intention that makes XV’s usage feel more visceral to me. Also, Tsubasa's suffering has always been weirdly harsher than anyone else in this series. Everyone has their traumas, but most of them were largely carried off-screen and in their backstories. Tsubasa's trauma was the start of this show and one of the focuses of its final season. Beginning to end, Symphogear is a story about torturing this one poor girl. It's a bit unfair.
