You mentioned Sylphie's hair color changing... so regarding that, I don't believe it's actually explained in the anime. I did some skimming of future episodes to make sure, and couldn't find any mention of it. In the LNs it's explained Sylphie's hair turns white as she's falling because she was actively trying to control her fall with wind magic long before she landed, and her hair turned white due to mana exhaustion. As to how we get from HERE to the Academy... WELL I guess we'll just have to find out, won't we? ;)
