This is where the show started to lose me on my first watch 18 years ago. I was so shocked when I thought they died, but the moment I realized they were alive, I was so annoyed. No other Gundam series does this fake-out nonsense so egregiously, there’s only one other Gundam series I remember doing a fake-out death, but they at least had the grace to wait 15-20 episodes before revealing the character was alive. It worked in Seed because I liked Kira, but because the returning cast has been so annoying not only am I not sad they’re supposedly dead, but I’m disappointed that they’re not actually dead. The only returning main cast member I still like is Athrun. I said in a previous comment there was one thing the show could’ve done that would’ve salvaged how badly the SEED cast has been characterized, and that was to kill them, but if they don’t wanna kill off Kira and Cagalli, at least they should've killed some characters on the Archangel, my vote would be for Mu, even if that would make him surviving Berlin pointless, or Miriallia, because what does she even do as a character anymore? If it did I think the show would be way better.
