Comments for this episode: -Kisaka saving them is supposed to be a coincidence which makes Athrun's rescue even more stupid -I also agree that it makes no sense why so many Earth Forces soldiers are willing to fight for Djibril and he and Logos seem to have the right to command all of Earth Force's most important facilities. This is especially a problem given at least some parts of the Earth Alliance have joined Zaft in trying to destroy Logos and I wish we had a better understanding of whether the majority of the Alliance is working with Zaft or if most of the Alliance is either sitting the Logos fight out or still working with them. Unless all of those EA soldiers were Blue Cosmos or Blue Cosmos sympathizers -Sting was the pilot of one of the Destroy's and he was the one we were shown as the Destroy's pilot perspective. He somehow survived the Chaos being cut in half and blowing up in Berlin. -Yuna's point to his father about the Earth Alliance when discussing the assault on Heaven's Base makes no sense, especially since (1) Logos is not the Earth Alliance and (2) a sizeable portion of the Earth Alliance appears fully invested in destroying Logos, so the Alliance might effectively be in a semi-civil war between the Pro-Logos members and Anti-Logos members. The show has done a terrible job explaining what exactly is going on with the Earth Alliance and it seems the writers have decided that wherever Djibril goes he will find EA soldiers willing to help him. -Kira, Lacus and the rest of their faction are not per se opposed to getting rid of Logos, but they are worried that with how quickly the world is changing that Durandal's plan, whatever it is, might be moving forward too quickly to be stopped. I know Theta believes that Durandal's plan is likely good for the world, but right now Kira and the others don't know if its good or bad and have very legitimate reasons to doubt Durandal's character or trust him. -there is a scene I am looking forward to seeing Theta's reaction too very much in the next episode and I can't wait to clarify exactly what it means. Fun Fact: Gund Bits in SEED are called Dragoons.

2025-02-25 04:20:31 +0000 UTCEpisode 38 also marks the exact point where I feel the show starts being actually bad, it’ss where the show starts to go downhill, in my eyes, because of its decision to not kill off Athrun, and the SEED cast being so unlikable to this point. It’s not that there aren’t any good episodes past this point, I think there are 3-4 episodes I still like after this, but the final 12 episodes I just don’t like. I think the reason why Destiny is thought of as much weaker than SEED, even though around 1/4 of both shows are pretty weak, but for SEED it’s the opening 10-12 episodes that aren’t that great, and for Destiny it’s the final 12 episodes that aren’t good. I feel like it’s way worse if a show starts off good but has a really bad ending, than if a show starts off pretty weak but has a great ending. This episode made me hate Lunamaria because her plotline that’s introduced in episodes 25 and 26 is completely dropped, and it completely ruins Lunamaria’s entire character for me. She snuck up on and eavesdrops on a conversation and learned that not only is the Lacus Clyne in the PLANTS not the real one and that the real Lacus survived an assassination attempt, and is currently on the Archangel, but she seemingly actually listens to Talia’s command to forget everything, because she never brings any of this up again. Also after the events of episode 36 where Athrun is declared to be a traitor and is seemingly killed alongside her sister, she starts immediately dating her sister’s killer. Yes we know Meyrin is alive, but she doesn’t, and it makes her completely unbelievable. Her sister is accused of being a traitor and she has evidence that ZAFT military command and the Chairman might be corrupt, but she still believes Durandal’s lies and blames Logos. In a good series Luminaria would either defect from ZAFT, present the evidence to the PLANTS to get the truth and force out the leadership, or be killed to prevent the evidence from getting out. Even if they didn’t want to do that there should be some tension between Shinn, Rey and Lunamaria, but there isn’t. Even though he feels bad about it he still killed her sister and she has no conflicted feelings on this at all. It’s incredibly dumb and stupid. Also even though I’ve seen the show before I’m always surprised to see Sting back as the pilot of one of the Destroy’s because I always think he gets killed by the Orb Pilots in Berlin, but it sounds like the same actor and his face looks similar, so I think it’s him. This new opening wasn’t originally the 4th opening of SEED Destiny, it was the opening to the OVA Final Plus, which was essentially an extended version of the final episode of the show, but they decided to make it the 4th opening for the HD Remaster, because the original 4th opening was very unpopular.
