We have to kill a video
Added 2015-07-30 08:55:05 +0000 UTCHey everybody – sad news. We have to kill a video. It was intended to be the extra video in August/September but seeing the final result we have to admit to ourselves that is below our standard. Not that it is a bad video, it isn't. But it isn't a great one either. It is more a collection of fun facts and awesome infos but it fails in telling a story. The narrative does not work.
So what now? We start over – at this point it is most likely that we will split this video into two videos – each of them focusing on one aspect of the original video. This will give the information more space to breath and us an opportunity to refine the narration.
So this means no extra video in August – really sorry. We have put lots of time into this video and it is really frustrating to kill it. It would be so easy to just post it and be like "meh, it is ok". Probably most people would not even notice that anything is off with this one – it might even get better views than the new version that we are planning. But this youtube channel is not about maximizing views. If it were we would do List videos.
Hopefully this was the right decision and you will be happy with the new stuff we come up with. Unfortunately this also means that the September video might be delayed too, while we attempt to fix the video. (The August video will be released next week though!).

2016-11-12 22:30:14 +0000 UTCJust want to emphasize this again: I see that you pledged the Patreon with the promise that you'd be enabled to produce MORE videos. But (just speaking for myself) the volume is not really what I'm looking for in your production. I think your universe/time/space series is extremely powerful, because they explained those abstract physics concepts in a way that no other format of media could have done, in just 5 minutes. It's such an eye opener! I completely understand how much research and collaboration work has to go behind the scene to make a concise narrative like this. There are many animations and documentary films out there, but no one has explained blackhole or the speed of light like you did. And that's why you're special. So please don't be stressed about hitting the numbers. A good subject wrapped in a good story is worth waiting. :)

2015-08-16 02:03:24 +0000 UTCNo worries! I still have plenty of your previous videos to catch up with! You did the right thing - we have enough mediocre videos around the internet and it's wise to keep your standard up high :) I support your decision.

2015-07-30 23:06:10 +0000 UTCWell, since I only subscribed, pledged and share everything you guys do for my perception of the top quality of your work I cannot be happier to read something like that. Honestly the only reason I won't heighten my pledge right now is the currency exchange rate for my macroeconomics hell of a country.
2015-07-30 21:19:39 +0000 UTCThank you for your commitment to making quality videos.
2015-07-30 18:32:07 +0000 UTCI appreciate the honesty! And quality > quantity any day. I'll remain a patron.

2015-07-30 14:27:02 +0000 UTCYou have my complete respect for making this decision. I also appreciate your frank communication; well done. I agree with Geoffrey Lee that I'd rather see quality instead of quantity. Your work is superb, and it's the reason that I became a contributor. I'll look forward to the new videos when they're ready.
2015-07-30 12:44:22 +0000 UTCThis speaks greatly of your commitment to deliver quality content. Thanks for letting us know, and thanks for thinking about compelling narratives before views :)

2015-07-30 11:43:24 +0000 UTCI want to see it anyway!
2015-07-30 11:24:50 +0000 UTCQuality > Quantity. Not going to lie and say I am not disappointed, but I think you made the right decision. In a few years when you look back, I think you'll be much happier this way. Although it sucks today, think long term.
