Dear everybody. Thank you again so much for your support – this month the Patreon money made a real difference – it has gotten to an area where it is more than a bonus and a very direct form of keeping us afloat. A client did not pay in time and it got kind of close – but then the funding from Patreon arrived and it was like a gasp of relief – no need to touch our emergency funds. And wow, this is actually 569 people supporting us. All of you. Really mindblowing. Of all the stuff that happend in the last two years, the fact that this Patreon exists and you all are here is by far the most amazing to us. So thanks again! A few Patron exclusive updates: We are slowly starting to take a look into sponsorships and stuff like that (like for example the audible adds Minuteearth and Veritasium do – and there will be a Kurzgesagt Poster and mug soon on the DFTBA store) so maybe, just maybe, together with Patreon that will be enough to go fulltime on yotube later this year. Surprise bonus video next Thursday (topic: Banking explained … if you have better title, I'm open to suggestions. The video explains briefly how banks work, why they did suck in the past few years and what different forms of credit exist today, like crowdfunding, credit unions or micro credits). Nuclear Energy will be released in March too (may be March 31 but it will be March!). Nuclear Energy will be three videos, so let us see how that goes (Introduction, pro video and contra video). After that I think it is time for some space stuff again but this is far from sure. Maybe a video about "The State of our World in 2015" or something in that direction. All Patreon Perks will be send out next week – since the Patreon system is very confusing behind the scenes, if you have something that is broken or missing, drop us a line at info @ kurzgesagt . org ! Best, Philipp

Hey that sounds amazing! I cannot wait for those amazing videos. Chemistry is my favorite science and Nuclear Energy is what were doing at school right now! is there any possible chance maybe some time you could talk about ocean acidification? I find that so interesting and I would love it if you could explain it! thanks

2015-03-04 09:11:56 +0000 UTCNice! Nuclear energy. Will it also include 'fusion'? I have been browsing the YouTubes the last few months and there seems to be quite a lot of advancement there with ITER and the Lockheed Martin Fusion Reactor.
2015-03-03 10:26:53 +0000 UTCI really love what you guys do and I'm so glad to supporting you guys for 4 months now! In regards to your next videos, why not call it Money and Banking explained? As Monetary Policy is a large component of the banking system? Just a thought. Keep up the amazing work, I'll try to double my donations as a token of my appreciation soon.

2015-03-03 07:30:31 +0000 UTCYeah, we struggeled with that for a long time and turned down lots of offers but it would make our lives just that much easier – doing videos that tend not to make millions of views, with a team of six is just economically... not the smartest thing to. We'll see how it goes and how intrusive it is – maybe the fact that we don't have a "face" will make this not effective anyways and this will be a one time gig.
Kurzgesagt – In a Nutshell
2015-03-03 07:14:20 +0000 UTCI may be alone in saying this, but personally I'd take a bit of time to consider other options instead of adding post-roll ads on your videos. While they are relatively non-intrusive to the viewer, I feel like your videos are timeless pieces, which deserve to be presented without *permanently* attached advertising. I've always wondered what happens when services like this are no longer relevant (audible goes under for instance); do you reupload every video - losing total statistics - to remove the now-invalid-advertising? I'm not sure how much those deals would bring you, but it may be worth weighing it up against, for instance, waiting for patreon to become more of a revenue source, or increasing the rewards available on patreon to tempt people to jump to a higher tier. Good luck with the videos going forward. Would be great if you could update the patreon wallpapers pack at some point ;).
