Neutron Stars – The Most Extreme Things that are not Black Holes

Neutron stars are one of the most extreme and violent things in the universe. Giant atomic nuclei, only a few kilometers in diameter but as massive as stars. And they owe their existence to the death of something majestic.

I like the pasta part πŸπŸπŸπŸ˜€.

Whilst this video is still brilliant, the original Kurzgesagt neutron star video was even better and funnier. In fact it’s our favourite kurzgesagt and the one we share first when introducing someone new to Kurzgesagt.

This was always my favorite topic! Great redo/follow up!!

Big thumbs up for the new EU shipping. I've been waiting for this since your first calendar! Now I finally placed my order and am very happy to soon recieve the 12020 one plus some goodies! :) Cheers

Didn't see this earlier - please see my comment. I believe Kurzgesagt made a mistake here.

I definitely learned in Astrophysics classes that supernova explosions are the primary source of heavier elements, which is very established. The paper provided for kilonova - I don't have full access to it - but from what I read in the abstract, all it says is that kilonova is a potential source of heavier elements.

Perfect Sunday afternoon, sat with the family watching a Kurzgesagt about Neutron stars. My childhood education would have benefited some much from having a resource like this, can’t imagine the impact it will have providing knowledge of this depth with such accessibility this early. Keep them coming Kurzgesagt!

Cheers.

Thank you!

This was absolutely phenomenal, thank you for animating this so beautifully and unveiling the story of our solarian beginnings! It's a privilege to view this early on Patreon; I hope it gets cast more broadly soon, it's too vital as an educational material not to share.

Wait wait wait. Why is it now believed that most heavy elements are synthesised in neutron star collisions instead of supernova explosions? I mean, how much uncertainty was there in the math?

Thanks again guys! Spending my Sunday watching the video and sitting back with a cold soda! Couldn't be happier keep up the wonderful work!

Great Video! You guys should check out a site called ClickView, I work at a school and we use it, and I think having Kurzgesagts videos on there would help out some teachers. The way you explain things and the simple yet intricate animations make learning these things so much more fun. Just thought I'd put it out there. Still an amazing video nonetheless.
