The Most Efficient Way to Destroy the Universe – False Vacuum

What if there is a way to destroy the universe so fundamentally that life as we know it will be impossible forever?

loved this!

It was awesome! Like "The Universe in a Nutshell" by Stephen Hawking. BTW, what do you think about future of mankind and society? I feel great being your patron, thank you!

Soo perfect vidéos !

I kinda prefer the explanation of various things like your earlier vids instead of hypothetical space stuffs recently, but then again it's always well-made, so, cool.

New patron here! Keep up the good work guys!

There's a Wikipedia article on the idea, by the way, if you're looking for a starting point: <a href="https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ice-nine" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ice-nine</a>

Good video! As for a doomsday scenario suggestion: how about Ice-9, the idea explored in Vonnegut's novel "Cat's Cradle"? Ie a "rogue" isotope of some common molecule that ends up doing something horrible to all our water or one of the important gases in the atmosphere. Seems like it would be a good, topical follow-up to this video.

I love your videos, are we going to be getting wallpapers for this and the gamma ray burst videos soon?

the easiest way is probably their youtube! <a href="https://www.youtube.com/user/Kurzgesagt" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">https://www.youtube.com/user/Kurzgesagt</a>

Freak sci-fi twist: it turns out vacuum decay has actually been happening for eons and is the actual source of the dark energy that is fueling the accelerating expansion of the universe. "Good news, bad news, everybody. We have now accounted for dark energy, and can explain the expansion of the universe." "And the bad news?" "We don't have time to tell you..."

Charley

Agreed. Sure, the narrator clearly says that it might be wrong, but still I feel this video goes slightly in the direction of mainstream media who often present scientific speculation as fact. Coming up with new exotic ideas is an important part of science, but they should be presented as such. The core of the scientific method is how we test new ideas, that we require strong evidence before we accept them as truth or declare them to be false. I would be excited to see a video about that (but I realize it would be a huge challenge to make it), because this key process usually is hidden from the general public.

Love these Kurzgesagt videos. Is there a page where a paying patron (like me) can browse all videos?

Would love to see the galaxy image at the start of the video made into a wallpaper. Keep up the good work.

Same thing here :|

Alex

where is the video? i can see only a title image

The video was, like always, very impressive. But what about Einsteins theory about time and space or Fusion Energy or the CERN project. Those would be amazing videos too! Thank you for your videos!

Tim Richter

It was kind of interesting, but I prefer you'd make videos about things which are less speculative, or of more immediate consequences for understanding of actual world.

Yeah, we've had too many uplifting videos lately. Time to see something depressing.
