Aloha Oe, the song Nani sings to Lilo, is actually incredibly culturally significant to Hawaiian people. It was written by the last queen of Hawaii as a farewell to her people. Many Hawaiians hold this song in their hearts as a protest to colonization as well as a song of solidarity and love.

I never connected her obsession with Pudge with her parents dying in a storm! That makes it so much more heartbreaking

I don’t know if other people would be interested but I would love to see you react to Lilo and Stitch 2: Stitch has a glitch

This makes me cry like all the time. It's so clever and funny but most of all it's just so heartbreaking on a rewatch. Lilo developed this fixation that Pudge the fish controls the weather and she has to please them, it's her way to deal with the trauma of her parents dying on a rainy day. There's little clues here and there thoughout the story. Nani says about Lilos peers "they just don't know what to say" before we find out that the parents have passed. On top of that Lilo is poor and different to the other kids. "I liked you better as a sister than a mom". Ugh this movie has so much to unpack!

So much fun to watch! Will your earlier reactions come out with the movie as well? Like how to train your dragon, and lotr? Or will this start from now on? :)
