I'm so sorry that "Stuart Little" won this. Not only is it mediocre on its own terms, but it completely violates the spirit of the book.

For me it is much more in line with what the series of books depicted, while staying in the same « lane » as the original adventures wise. For me Emily Blunt is quite convincing as Mary Poppins, and the foggy atmosphere of the 1930’s London is really well depicted, since some of the original books were written in that era. A lot of people are taken aback by the dreary and grey tones of the movie, but I feel like it adds to it.

2022-02-08 02:47:46 +0000 UTCI hate to be the bearer of disappointment, but Mary Poppins Returns is HORRIBLE--Basically an intentional exact retread of every single scene from the original, in the exact same order, but without that...y'know. Similarly, the original classic West Side Story was so good on its first try, there was no need to do an exact copy of THAT in the 21st cty., either.
