You're making good stuff happen
Added 2016-11-28 01:04:31 +0000 UTCI want you to know that you're making a difference, and making good stuff happen. Patreon keeps thinking something is wrong because I'm clearing 200 my first month and I'm not some sort of boob-tuber or twitch fiend playing 16 hours a day of LOL.
I'm beginning to think its all a vote of confidence, or at least, a vote toward something unique: A channel that isn't trying to fleece their viewers out of as much money as possible. Recently I had a conversation with a fan of mine in the legion who had been a member of another youtuber's community. One of those up and comers who plays a lot of ARMA and the like.
Thing is, this guy had a deal with discord to make a thousand bucks a month, all he had to do was mention discord once an episode and then once a week get as many fans in discord as possible, and record them playing a game. The fans, wild eyed with enthusiasm tromped off to spend time with someone they thought valued them, and wanted to play games with them. The youtuber paid them little attention, just doing what they had to do, playing with 'whoever' for that sweet sweet thousand bucks.
This is just one example of what I consider shit ethics in the current trend of youtube popularity. Taking advantage of people for fat paychecks wherever they're scrounged. I mean, its not quite up to yogscast level ( taking money by perpetuating fraud, anyone? Thanks for totalbiscuit on calling them out) or psisyndicate's casino for children bullshit, but there's a very disturbing trend in people fleecing people for money.
From what I know, I guess I'm in the extreme minority on youtube in that I'd not ever really want to be a big channel, nor wealthy from this. But, I sure as hell am repulsed at people lying to folks and taking advantage of their trust for easy dosh. Shifty fuckery, that.
Anyways, ranting over. Im tired. I just wanted to say, I aim to be different and worthy of your trust. Or at least of your donations. Feel like you've at least funded somebody who strives to NOT be a shit channel for pandering reasons.
But I probably will be a SHIT channel for reasons all my own!
Delusions of Mediocrity?
Heh.

the problem nowadays both for normal folks and commercial company's, is that if they pull of bad shit and don't get punished right there and then, in a means that properly hurts them, they just keep pushing boundary's. take into account the factor online anonymity of trying hide your tracks(often poorly), and some of the regular get folks greedy beyond comprehension and there isn't really a scale to measure how bad it gets. like you said about the psisyndicate's casino scam, now think a pedophile some pulling of something similar and innocent looking with just 1/10 of the young viewers, this guy will literally be hunted around the world and get kill for it. folks in general have a really bad perception of grand scale impacts of things, and similarly to rather doing this to fix the direct damages and leave it as is, rather then try and get a long term fix going that takes more work and planning, to simply undo the damages currently done more fully and prevent said shit from happening again.
