I LOVED this. Love the perspectives, love the peek into Jonah and Mercy's mind that were not shown in the story. This does demystify Jonah's lack of social grace, but does reaffirm the notion early on that this stoic man does have a heart underneath that exterior. Especially at the beginning with him showing his insight about Mercy needing sympathy even if she didn't ask and self-awareness that he isn't suited with words, but can help by getting rid of the wolf. Even if that didn't go to plan. I also liked the line "The swamp held its breath" as it is a cool line that really sells the mist wolf's presence. That and, "Then, like a rubber band, it snapped back, hard. Mercy fell to the ground, unconscious." is another as I liked the description with the whole scene of the wolf trying to leave Mercy, but being unable to. Thank you for sharing the prose of this chapter, got some more insight into the story that is either not obviously stated in the story or thoughts that cannot be shown at all. Love reading the prose and descriptions of what is going on as well. Excited to read these along with the new actual webtoon chapters as well.
